A Question about Karma

So i decided to give my gift to my friend. (25%off valve) Anyone know what the Karma portion of the gift pile is? I have not noticed any immediate changes. Any ideas?

I'm fairly sure Karma isn't a functional mechanic - they are actually just talking about the theory/ideology about being rewarded by the cosmos for good deeds.
