People in those giveaway groups usually say something along the lines of:

"+rep me and you may get chosen for this giveaway of GTA6" and people fall for it, I imagine they dont get the game in the end and the scammer gets reps

edit: fixed some grammar, srsly wtf happened.

Maybe it was an impersonator of a high rep user. Did you checked profiles and such before trading?

Also, no calling out is allowed here, so be sure to report the right person on a private Support ticket and on his/her Steam profile, with enough proofs (conversation prints, trade history, etc.). SteamRep is slow as hell, but it's usually helpful for someone else don't fall on the scammer's tricks when he's flagged.

Then move along and be careful on the next time.

Are you sure you traded with the right person, and not with an impersonator?

Yes i am sure he is the right one..he got 77 rep on steam trades..so i trusted that

The problem he says he paid me bit i got nothing ..i am with contact with paypal in this time to see whT happend..and ..the problem is he doesnt respond to me and sometimes he says he want to give games instead...

Are you sure you didn't just met someone who linked you towards a high rep profile ? I can just add you on Steam and say "look at my rep : http://www.steamgifts.com/user/thebiggboss180/feedback"

While it's not my feedback.

+1, a common type of scam

+1. Their URL may be only slightly different, so they can attempt to hide that as well. They'll link you to the actual persons profile, while theirs is so similar that you will most likely not catch it unless you're looking for something specific.

Half the time they don't even do that. They just change their name and profile picture to the original trader.

Check your activity feed and make sure the person you friended wasn't an impersonator before reporting them.

Install the "Enhanced Steam" Browser Addon, with links to all major sites on the Steam profile, thus you will never add an impersonator, if you check the links. - http://www.enhancedsteam.com/

You can start using it to check if the user with whom you traded corresponds to the high rep account. You must always check it, high rep accounts use to be impersonated.

Well, there's not much you can do about it, you can report him but steam isn't probably going to do anything about it, because the trade took place outside the trade window. And maybe if you bought your game with a credit card, maybe you can do a chargeback?

Did he provide you a link to his/he steamtrades profile ? If so you are prolly dealing with an impersonator. Report the trader to VALVe by clicking on the flag icon. If you used PayPal (with or without) Credit Card you could try to initiate a ChargeBack for digital goods not delivered.

Do a charge back, it sucks but it is your best bet atm. It is not uncommon for scammers to use legit accounts inorder to get away with this nonsense. This is how other legit traders sometimes get false -rep, like me -.-. (Scammer went around claiming I was selling Witcher 3 for keys). There is a pic of him on my main trade thread if you want a look, and if the person who you traded looked similar (few games but high rep) you most likely got scammed.

he didn't pay the money, he gave his game and wanted money for it. so he can't charge back. ;)

Steam comment reps are means NOTHING! People needs to learn that already. Those reps are from his/her alternate accounts...............

Check SteamRep and SteamTrades for rep, not the profile... And don't trust given links. Check the actual profile on these sites.

Otherwise, you screwed for now... And calling out here is the lobby of a ban... Delete the profile link...

sorry for your loss. my recommendation for new users is only trade for cheap bundle shit and you won't get pissed that much if you get scammed. by checking that user's steamrep profile you can see there were already some cases opened for that guy which is an indicator that trading with this kid is probably dodgy. stay off from such people and you won't get burned.
