What a wonderful and inspiring summary of your gaming hobby.
Makes me want to put more effort into finishing games instead of getting frustrated, picking something else, and not coming back for a long while.
Happy Cake Day!!!

On 13th of May it will be my first cake day on SG. So I decided to practice my verbiage on the occasion of this event… But first things first and all the lyrics will be after:
Here you can get a ride for the following games: TSIOQUE, Let Them Come, Neon Chrome, Call of the Sea, Fobia - St. Dinfna Hotel, Crown Trick, Edge Of Eternity, Monster Train.
All giveaways are region free and available to all users with level 3 and above. All giveaways will end on May 26.
Not a very diverse, fancy and pricey set of games, but reviews/ratings are good and I hope most people will find at least one game they actually will want to have or even play :)
Time for lyrics. And maybe some stats. Or just a wall of the text… I don't know what shape what I'm writing will take ¯_(ツ)_/¯
So I’ve stumbled upon SG while searching for anything that will distract me from doom scrolling… You know, these last few years… they are sorrowful, arduous, distraught... In order to keep my sanity I had to find something to replace at least some of the information flows that were destroying me. Long story short: SG fully replaced Twitter and all non-professional news accounts across various platforms.
SG offered a very nice replacement for my addiction to doom scrolling. I wasn’t active with gaming in recent years, so like 99% of the games I saw here were new to me. It almost immediately became my hobby to learn about new games - I literally took a look at every new game I saw here that I haven't seen before (steam pages, gameplay footage, reviews). It turned out to be quite a fun activity. Also on SG I found people with whom I could discuss games and gaming, I haven't had this in quite some time.
Moreover, while I didn’t have any intentions to actually play the games… I started doing so.
STEAMGIFTS CURED MY GAMING IMPOTENCE!
According to Steam year-end stats I have played some hours in January, but haven't played any in February… And since I joined SG in May - I actually started playing games. I won 34 games so far and managed to beat/complete 29 of them. 2 remain played, but unfinished (waiting for a proper mood to finish them), 2 are played right now (one in solo, another one with my daughter) and 1 of recent wins also awaits for its turn. My total play time for the SG wins is about 306 hours - and that is huge! According to SteamDB my total play time since September, 2019 is only 842 hours. Just think about it: one third of my playing time on Steam over the past 3.5 years has come from games received from SG. That's epic!
Thanks to SG, I met the Backlog Assassin's (BLAEO) - these nice people made me re-evaluate my library and pushed me towards playing games even further. I actually not only started playing games again, but also started finishing them. Also took part in one “Challenge me” event and finally played and beaten Bioshock Remastered I bought in 2014 :D Remarkable 15 hours of gameplay! Also I've joined Playing Appreciated and Playing Matters groups as I find people from there to be very inspiring.
Also I joined Play A Game You Won on SG events (PAGYWOSG), I found it fun to play my wins.. And not only wins - total playtime of games that are not SG wins for this event is 56 hours.
Later I joined the Play or Pay group (PoP). People choose some nice games from my library that I had never played. Total play time so far in these events is 96 hours (not taking into account SG wins)!
So, let's count: 306 hours from SG wins, 15 hours from BLAEO, 56 hours from PAGYWOSG (does not include SG wins), 94 hours from PoP (also does not include SG wins). 471 hours total. 471 hours in the last 12 months out of 842 hours since September, 2019. That is a miracle! SG is responsible for this and I don’t mind - I’m grateful.
I'm pretty happy with gaming coming back into my life. Yes, it might be an unhealthy activity, but it is an enjoyable one and it replaced the more unhealthy one.
So thanks SG (and all the nice people who make it “work”) for my interesting gaming year. All these puzzles, discussions, giveaways, events - that is a very (overall) pleasant experience I’m happy to have as a hobby.
And special thanks to my local SG community - you are all cuties, love you all ♥
