The Steam Community is down. At this time of day, I'm thinking cards are about to start.

Hopefully the sales during this sale will be far less than any previous ones so valve can realize that the gifting system needs to be reverted back to what it was.

Once upon a time I had a limit of only having 100 games on my WL, Then something happened and I found lots of games I wanted, since then it's slowly growing.
I'm anxiously awaiting the sale. Haven't saved money. Will die at some point during the sale - or nothing will happen, because nothing is on discount for me. So yeah....
Keep calm and play HOGs and stuff :D

Based on what somebody said in this thread I decided to set up a isthereanydeal account and I'm going mad with power. Already bought a bundle w/three more hidden object games I want and 7 more to give away.
By the time the sale comes..... I will be......
UNSTOPPABLE............

I'm selling cards too. But I'm not very optimistic about how much I'll get. Maybe around 20-40 dollars, which is enough [I hope] to buy the new Danganronpa game that gets out on the 27th. After that, I'll try and grab some cool and cheap games with what's left.

like every year I set a limit of 50€ that I'll spend on sale.
Prob. nothing for steamgifts because you can't even be sure if you can send a game to the person that will win the GA.

I definitely won't buy as much as I used to in the past with those filthy changes to the gifting system... Normally I would purchase a few titles for myself and a few more for GA purpose but Valve decided on my behalf that I won't be spending for others so they'll get less money from me.

I don't know what people expect to happen with the gifting system changes, but I think people vastly over-estimate how much traders and people who hoard up cheap games actually represent Steam's userbase. There's no other shoe about to drop on the reveal that Valve fucked themselves out of eight figures or anything. Sites like Steamgifts represent the minority, and for the vast majority of actual gifting that's just direct friend-to-friend buying of games, that shit doesn't get effected. The sale will roll around, I and millions of other people will directly buy friends games, and nothing is going to change in Valve's policy.
Every time, the awful "SALES AREN'T FUN ANYMORE ALL THESE SUPER CHEAP GAMES ISN'T ENOUGH" talking points get really tiresome, but this year the whole gift system changes thing has really added on this new layer to it all.

I...... absolutely agree. I understand people are frustrated, and their standard operations will have to change, but to extrapolate that out to 'I'M unhappy, so everyone ELSE must be unhappy' is.... I dunno.

I haven't been here for very long, but this has been the slowest I've seen steamgifts. Is this common right before a big sale, or has the new gifting policy made it worse? It feels like right before a tsunami, when the water pulls back...
At least, I hope so.
I'm definitely saving up a lot of money for the sale, too, and less likely to buy anything else. How do you guys feel?
