Can you give me a reason as to why its better? :o

Saves you money in the long run regarding many DLCs...:S
Unfortunately I only have the GOTY edition that didn't include many of the DLCs.
(Doesn't include the expansion packs though...)

You can just buy the gold edition upgrade, so it doesn't necessarily save you money.
Regardless, I still recommend gold because of Gods and Kings. It changes a lot of mechanics for the better (for example, it gives units 100 hp instead of 10 so spearmen can't kill giant death robots anymore) and it adds religion. The DLC just adds a ton of new civs, so if you like that, then go for it.

Mhhm so pay extra for a change in mechanics and tons of dlc is what the gold edition pretty much is? Sounds like a good deal to me D:

Meh, I would hold out and wait. Maybe buy the regular right now and wait till they come out with some kind of platinum edition and then buy the upgrade.
I bought the Game of the year edition and now regret it because I have to either buy both God's and Kings and Brave new world separate now. I would say buy the normal edition now and then when they come out with the collection that includes all the DLCs and expansions buy the upgrade on sale. There is not a price difference on buying the normal + Gold upgrade, or buying the simple gold edition last time I checked.
Civ 5 goes on sale all the time so you should not have a problem with waiting for it.
TL:Dr? Buy normal, wait until all the expansions are in the upgrade and then buy the upgrade on sale. You will get more for your money.

Buy the gold. The extra content is worth more than $5.

Gold. I bought GOTY before gold, and I get DLC, but not like the dlc of gold. It changes it enough to improve the game a lot.

Ah okay, i'm going to go buy gold then :D Thanks for the tip!

Buy Sid Meier's Civilization V: Gold Edition? Or just the regular version? Currently the gold edition sells for $12.49 while the regular version sells for $7.49. So yeah my question is whether the gold edition is worth the extra $$$ or should i just stick to the regular version? I have a total of $14.65 to last me through the rest of the steam sale :<
EDIT: Ok so i have decided to buy the regular version and will upgrade (hopefully before the daily deal offer ends) if i really like the game :D Thanks for all of the feedback guys! Hope to see you in-game :)
