Good omen ! I pray for your good fortune at work (and with your new bought PC) !

A 7700k isn't a "dream PC"? Wow, i still think that my 4440 is fine for today's 1080p gaming.

Have you ever flown in your dreams?
I can only seem to jump very very high and float back down. Strange. ^^

Did you already bought the 1080ti? The new Nvidia cards should be in stores next july, according to some websites.

No need to pay off my dad and recover from the pc itself first, will take 3 months.
Maybe 1080 TI will become cheaper, and dunno how much the new ones will go for, but not willing to pay even more on a graphic card, already went from my initial 1050-1060 to that.

Well, at this point you might as well wait for the new 1100 cards. The 1170 SHOULD (according to first rumors and based on previous generations) be at the same performance level of a 1080ti, while being cheaper.

Thank you. :) Yeah and hope to be set for some years with it, still not sure how all the overclocking goes (never done that) but maybe i will skip it, i really don't care for a few extra fps.
Might have my processor delidded which would cool things down by 20C but will void your warranty.

Congrats! I am so happy for you ^^ That sure looks a hell of a lot more fancy than the computer related shopping list I spent the last 3 hours on :'D

Knowing on what you had to game on till now, you deserve it! How much was it in total?
I am buying a bunch of randomass shit. Mostly what I need for my thesis project thingy. The nail polish is there so I get free shipping (shipping was more than what I needed to spend to be eligible for free shipping) :D

1798 euro (inclusive windows 10, which i fear but new processors don't support updates anymore for windows 7).
And then there is the graphic card in a few months, which is another 1000 or so, or maybe cheaper with the new ones.
i also got space for 6 hdd's, but that's not really a priority for the time being, same goes for a bigger monitor to get more out of it, VR set (i might do that this year though) but those things are not a priority, i really need to save some too.
I haggled for them to throw me in a free Kaspersky Total Security for 3 users. :p
That's really random, what's the project about (or secret)?

Holy shit that is a lot of money o.o Hope you will be happy with it! :) Ehhh you can still have 7 working just fine AFAIK. Being able to expand over time is always good. I know how why you would ever use that but if ended up being free ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
If you know what it is about it is a lot less random actually. I am making a smart mirror. The Raspberry PI (power cable+SD Card) is what will run it. The monitor (+ 1 HDMI cable as the monitor doesn't come with one and I only have a free HDMI port on my GPU) is to replace one of my current monitors that will go into this project. The old monitor only has VGA so that is what the adapter and another HDMI cable is for. fingers crossed everything will work how it is supposed to.

Thanks, really hope you can afford one eventually too, took me 8 years, sometimes things might just take a little in life, like the saying, good things come to those that wait.
Will do (really looking forward to Final Fantasy 15 and World of Final Fantasy (but would need that card for it too).

Congrats! I had a similar experience three months ago when I finally replaced my nine year old Core 2 with GT220 graphics card by a Ryzen 1800x with a 1070. In particular, the graphics card benchmark score (G3D) went from 354 to 11100! It was a jump so incredible (games, apps, everything) I actually feel it was worth suffering a couple of years for as you end up appreciating it so much more. And it looks like you will be speeding up even more than I did! Wow.

That's so exciting-- congrats, Lugum! Nothing quite like setting up a brand new PC. I will probably get a new one some time in 2018, not sure when. My "gaming PC" is from 2012, with an upgraded video card. It wasn't top of the line when I got it, and I'm itching for a new one... =)
*bounce*

That's what i am hoping for.
No new monitor i have one that is 1 1/2 years old (because my old one died because of broken transistors) back when i didn't have a job and my dad got me, think either 22 or 24 inch.
First would be paying back my dad, then saving up for a card (think new generation) then maybe VR then monitor, but then we will probably talking about next year (also implying my job stays okay).
What's in the picture (except Windows 10) is what i gonna get, i gonna use my old monitor and 2x 2tb hard drives from the old one, i could use this 64gb SSD too but then i would have no operation system left on the old one, would maybe some day still be handy to keep the old one running for whatever reason.
However i wouldnt want to put (too much) games on the EVO because of restoring back ups, i just would want to restore a clean windows each time (with all software i need, and every few months i update everything and make a new backup) Or i could use that old 64gb SSD to put windows 10 on, and my games on the EVO, but would the 64gb SSD with windows bottleneck it. Not sure what would be wisest.

Congrats and hopefully the software and drivers will work without any problems. :-)

Because i have no clue about M.2, NVMe etc. Maybe that's one part i didn't do much research in, i also see it doesn't actually get great reviews (bad ones also being about speed) based on it i wouldn't have chosen it (so dunno why i did).
The order is placed but not stuck with it yet (they will send me a bill and then i have to okay it) so i could still change it, think i will.
I did look at the Samsung Evo because i came across it by review sites how that was used alot, but i also went overboard enough already on every other part (which i found more important), and i can only borrow that much from my dad. ;)
Good question, thanks.
But i believe 2 could fit in, so i can always get another later and keep this one.

I realized my own dream last year.
Now I'm shopping for a new kind of dream. Impatiently waiting for hatching season ^^.

I've been working on 27" and I know that this size suits me. At home, I use the TV as a secondary to my 24", and I find it useful to have 2 monitors.
Maybe go to some gaming expo and look through the different types of monitors, sit and play something.
If you have some friends with big monitors, go and play some games, to see if you are comfortable with the FOV and maybe try different refresh-rates. I know that I noticed the difference between 60 and 120Hz, but couldn't get it between 120 and 144. And now there's even 165Hz.
If you are going hard into shooters, the gaming TN panels are with the lowest response time. IPS panels have better color depth but slower response time.

Thanks, well I don't have friends (with big monitors). I am not hard into shooters (playing TF2 but that isn't too demanding) but might go look more into games like Call of Duty, but will always be more of an adventure/rpg/casual gamer, looking now most forward to FF15 (but need that graphic card).
Maybe IPS would be better for me.

be quiet silent base 600, be quiet dark rock pro 3. with just a MSI GeForce GTX 1080 ARMOR 8G OC and Core i7 6700K Skylake (4.1 GHz).
It is quiet enough, especially the first few months i was positively surprised. you can hear it when you play demanding games but not too much for now - i live in a hot place so that doesn't help too

Some wouldn't say those temperatures are that bad. Maybe you could look if delidding your processor is worth it, just reading it could lower it by 10c, you will need a tool or let someone else do it but with coffee lake, delidding those can lower it by 20c, so it's an useful tool to keep.

Thanks.
Yeah non hobbyist would it a waste of money, but if it's your hobby you just want the best of the best and this our "child" almost. ;)
Having to have lived how i did but just also 8 years with this old pc, i am like you only live once and you just got to treat yourself sometimes.
Hope you can get something similar too eventually so you won't have to be jealous anymore (or heck in a year or 2 get much better stuff then i would get now and i can become jealous). :p

Is my pc, that i finally ordered now after being in the pipeline for some time. Bit uncertainy at work, also have to borrow a bit.
Though today there was an unexpected meeting at work, and there was a food cart with omelets, wraps and other food, so was relax. xD
Will take till next week till i have it in my hands, gonna wait with the graphic cards (1080 TI) for some time, onboard should be equal to a 620 i think, which is still alot better then the 430 GT i have now.
Will make pictures and post when i have it, and for who is interested (though big case (15kg), no graphic card, no fancy watercooling, would still look a bit empty).

Changed the Crucial to a Samsung 850 EVO (no 900+ NVME but read some reviews that weren't good to justify even a larger cost, think i accidently chosen Crucial (which gets bad reviews) because i got confused with Corsairs in the first place.
And can always put another one in later on.
