"Only choose a user that has replied on the comments"

People would actually say "Thank you" in those nice and generous giveaways. I think this should be done.

Hell no. Why do I care for meaningless "Thanks" posts?

Besides, commenting doesn't work when using the iOS app.

stupid iPhone, you should get an Android ;-) (I'm ready to say the opposite, if you have a problem with android (except for the number of apps))

Then get an Android device.

β€”Hello, I'd like to return my iPhone and get an android device instead.

β€”Were you not happy with it?

β€”I was, but I can't comment to say thanks on giveaways on steamgifts.

+1 for the meaningless "Thanks", but why do you use the app? I just open it in Safari and that's better imo.

The app filters out games I already own, which IMO, makes it better than even the web version (sorry, I'm not using some third party script).

you can do a private giveaway and if the person that won it didtn comment you just reroll

Do a private or group giveaway, put rules in description, if people don't follow the rules and win, reroll, simple.

This has been discussed countless times. No, it would only encourage meaningless spamming of "thank you".

You want to force people to say "thanks"?
Because that is what it means, no one would not say thanks if there were such an option. "Thanks" would mean even less than it does right now.

Forcing good manners, is similar to forcing politics, religion, or most other things for that matter. It simply shouldn't be done.

what about "Only choose a user that makes well thought out and composed comments that are apt to the current topic." ?

if I could create a system to detect that, I'm sure I'd be a heck of a lot richer selling it for other applications.

Nonsense. It would make everyone even more cynical about saying "thank you." It's already more about being polite than it is about thoughtful/grateful/sincere.

Sure, you would have used it on your giveaways. I see how you loved the comments on them.

Edit: also you have a ratio of 544 entries 22 comments. You also love to thank to the contributors.

The contributor would just ignore "thanks yous". The ones that he pays attention to are the comments that are different.

You might as well make that you will automatically post a "Thanks" when you press enter, lol.

Thats exactly the comment I was thinking when i posted this. Its so annoying, its the exact same comment every giveaway.

I used to say something unique on every giveaway, but that was upwards of a thousand entries ago. It gets tedious as hell after a while, so these days I do have a canned 'Thanks! :D' I use unless I'm one of the first to comment or it's a private/small group giveaway. Of course, if I actually win it's a different story and I'm always genuinely grateful for that, but my generic 'thanks' are purely for the benefit of those givers who get upset if they aren't verbally fellated by everyone who enters.

I dont have problems with a simple "Thanks! :D" because you probably write it anyways. im talking more about the guys who have a huge comment, but they use it every single entry.

Not a good idea in my opinion...
Yeah, it's nice saying thanks and people should do it, but forcing it upon them... Just won't be good :P You should thank someone because you feel thankful, not because you're being told to... xP Doing such a thing will take away the whole point of thanking giveaway makers (imo anyway).
