I turned my PC on about 10 hours ago and had 300p. Once i entered the giveaways i thought were interesting, there were 4 left. I did other stuff, came back in about 2 hours and discovered that my point balance was at 65. After a few more entries it was down to about 20. After coming back now, about 4 hours later, i have 300 points again...

that is 350+ points gained in about 10 hours time.

I welcome and applaud the influx of people willing to give away more games, but truth be told, a lot of the potential points are going to waste because of the sudden boost. I'm not even advocating a point increase. Maybe you guys could cut the percentage again?

Did the giveaways you entered stay up? When a giveaway gets deleted you gain your points back.

It was because of Ironclads and the games alike. People bought them for $1 and here they had $50 value. It is fixed now.

yep, the Ironclads was the real reason why we were overflowed with extra points...
I hope I helped fixing it with the thread I created earlier :)

It just looks like another wave of CS:GO betas has hit SG,thus the points.

There's a ton of garbage being added now because of the contributor giveaways. I'm almost at the point of saying, as soon as the game appears in a bundle, remove it from the list of games.

Since the "Contributor only giveaway" people buy the indie gala/bundle in a box for 1$, and make it as 4/3 giveaways just to get the contribution $$ fast.

Eh, losing those points is the point of a point limit.

Get my point?

The reasons I found were:

  • influx of CS:GO
  • influx of bundles
  • influx of contributor giveaways

Moreover, contributor giveaways incite users to make giveaways, thus raising our points even more.

I certainly hope I'm not the only person to take this seriously. Some people don't mind having 300 points all the time, but others will want to get rid of them so that they can enter more and more giveaways. Now, you can be sure a lot of SG's users will enter games they are not necessarily interested in because they still want to make points. They'll enter games they simply won't even play.

How infuriating is it? You just lost to a guy who doesn't even want the game.

You can never know that the winner didn't even want the game. You can assume that's the case, to get yourself all riled up, but you'll likely never actually know.

With the recent multiplication of points, this is bound to happen more and more often ^^

You're still only assuming with absolutely no evidence.

At least TRY to find were someone has stated they won a game they didn't really want just to prove me wrong.

I have bought games that, months later, I have yet to touch. That hardly proves anything.

This is what I was about to reply with. But, now someone will say that "you just didn't really want it if you didn't play it."

Yeah, it's not because life is unpredictable, everyone is just immovably ungrateful.

You think that "a lot of the potential points are going to waste" so you advocate giving people less points? Had you been campaigning for a higher cap, you would at least have made sense.
I know I have only been here for a day, but the points system seems great so far. Now that the Ironclad is only a single point, we should all see fewer points coming our way.

Oh, and because there's 35 friggin pages of giveaways, whereas there's usually 12-16. (for me at least. I'm not in many groups.)

I agree. So many entries per giveaway, where not everyone REALLY wants the game.
