Any idea when Ubisoft games will be on discount on Steam since there is no way of getting them outside of Steam as keys for Steam? Particularly FarCry 3: Blood Dragon?
When was the last time this type of sale was on?

The Uplay version of FarCry 3: Blood Dragon was 1 tf2 key a while ago, maybe you should consider getting this since Steam will just start Uplay anyway.

Either way you'll have to install UPlay. But if you don't prefer to pay 2$ for a game, I understand you ;)

IIRC, FC3:BD was part of a graphics card promotion, you should be able to get it cheap on steamtrades

Other than that: consult the magic 8 ball

Yea, but those are all UPlay keys, I am looking for the Steam version.

The Steam version requires UPlay to run, anyway.

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon was 50% off @ GetGamesGo.com recently.
You can get a 20% discount @ GreenManGaming.com with GMG20-7EKXF-UTQXX atm

Yea, but was it Steam redeemable? I don't think so.

Nope. You can't get uplay games for steam anywhere other than steam.
Amazon used to have some (at least FarCry3, Assassins Creed 3), but Ubisoft requested them taken off sale.

Far Cry 3 and the Deluxe edition are still available on Amazon as Steam keys.

edit: Assassins Creed III Deluxe is as well.

Clicky

Seems like they might sell rest of keys full price for idiots :D

Damn, that sucks. That doesn't make much sense to me though. Valve takes 30% off the top on any sales through the Steam Store. However, Valve provides Steam keys for free to the publisher for any game on the Steam Store. So selling Steam keys on Amazon costs them nothing and they are still getting Uplay onto people's PCs as part of the Steam download. So unless they were planning on bailing on Steam altogether, why would they stop selling keys? I really hope this isn't true.

I think i'll wait for the winter sale to get blood dragon. Got far cry 3 on uplay and i regret it. I'll buy only steam version.

Steam versions also use UPlay T_T

The Steam version is basically just a shortcut to UPlay really (except for trading cards). In the end it makes no big difference, except that you pay a lot more for the Steam version.

I say it again: i know that. Still i'll buy only steam version, i'm ok with paying more.

Well okay but then I wonder: Why do you regret getting it on UPlay?

Because i want steam version.

You realise that the Steam and the UPlay versions are identical in just about every way, right?

In Gaben we trust! When UFail dies, like GFWL, and its DRM gets stripped from games, we'll still play the Steam version.

No. If UPlay dies, so does Ubi's games.

Someone will still want to profit from the Ubisoft vast catalog. Do you really believe that, if UPlay dies in 3 months, they'll let titles like Assasin's Creed 4 simply die as well?

They would, since they don't get money if they die.

But someone does. See THQ. Games haven't suddenly become freeware because THQ died.

Also, GFWL died but MS didn't.

That doesn't answer my question. There is no difference between those versions.

No point of buying the Steam version. The price of the UPlay version is way cheaper than the Steam version, and you still have to install UPlay for both anyway.

yeah but then every time you see it on sale somewhere you think you don't own it already because you don't have it on steam. As is my case with farcry 3 and trying to buy it any time it's on sale.

I used to be against non-Steam clients. Then I realized that it's not that bad. In fact, I kinda like having the games separate between libraries. Besides, is this Seriously that bad that you're willing to pass up a nice $13 saving?

I got Desura, Steam, Origin and UPlay and it's not so bad for my games. At least it's more centralized than having at least one disc for every game.

I think you should change the title to this thread. The current title suggests that this is a thread for a UPlay sale and not for Steam games that require UPlay.

As in a sale on Ubi games on Steam.

I think that threads regarding Ubisoft or EA have a way of getting on people's nerves. You're welcome.

It's not the threads we have a problem with.
For threads about EA, we get mad cause EA makes us mad.
On the other hand, we get mad about threads about Ubisoft cause either Ubi makes us hate it or threads like this makes us hate the OP.

I got 3 steps for you.

  1. Get off Steam.
  2. Put on your thinking cap.
  3. Think what is the point of paying way more just for the cheap cards.

So as people said, what's the point of getting it on Steam only? Might as well install UPlay and get a key for there since you would still need it anyway.

Trading cards are not the point, I just like to have 1 library where I keep all my games and track the time I have spent playing them.
This thread was not meant to stir up some Steam vs. Other-DRM war crap as I was just interested in the time when sale on Ubisoft games could take place on Steam. This has gone way off-track.

P.S. If I wouldn't want the game on Steam I would have pirated it a long time ago. (Yes, I don't care that much)

What's the point of having it strictly on one library?
Sure it is a bit more convenient if you have a small library, but if you have a large one, things gets cumbersome quickly. Would you rather have two way smaller libraries or one ridiculously large one?

Anyway, I highly doubt that Ubi would actually join the sale at high discounts. They do want people to use their store more.
