A little bit of history for newcomers...

Hello! I've created a little retro platformer game and with the help of friendly SG community managed to polish it and release it on Steam back in late 2016. Since then, I've held a few of these marathons/events/puzzles in order for all of us to have fun and at the same time to give back to SG members who supported the game by giving them the chance to win some nice prizes. You're welcome to check out previous events, tasks that were required, gifts, winners, hints...

...and now!

We'll try to speed-run the game for the first time ever in these community events. Speed-running is when you're trying to rush through the game in the shortest time possible. Current world record for this game is 17 minutes and 51 seconds. I'm not expecting you'll try to beat that, but I've set a much slower time to be our entrance bar - 1 hour. I've also prepared bunch of very detailed guides on how to record your video, how to set up timers... Of course, there are other ways for you to participate and have fun, even if you don-t have the game and never played it. Let's dig in!

Speed-run the game in under an hour /1 Speed-run the game in under an hour /1 Post a video of your gameplay for the full game, no time constriction /2 Finish the game with 200 or more coins /3 Be a supporter + BZ Leftovers for supporters
  1. Speed-running task, access to the entire train
    • Finish Goblin and Coins in one sitting in under 1 hr (World record is under 18 minutes, so even if you take 3x longer you're still in). Play on casual, doesn't matter what % of coins you collect or how many lives you lose. Timer starts when you enter World I from the map screen. Timer ends when you enter the door after defeating the World 5 Boss.
    • Record the video of it and post to YouTube. You're not required to show your face nor verbally comment, but it's fine if you do.
    • Submit the video to the https://www.speedrun.com/Goblin_and_Coins to get your score verified.
    • Post a comment here in the event thread with a link to your verified score. (like this https://www.speedrun.com/Goblin_and_Coins/run/mr82x1dy for example)
    • Important: Make sure your listed username matches your sg username!

  2. Gameplay video task, access to cars 2-4
    • Post a comment with a link to your brand new or existing video/playlist of playing the entire game of Goblin and Coins. YouTube channel must match the sg username (or sg username must be provided in video description if different). As this is not for speed-run, video can be split into several pieces.
  3. Achievements task, access to cars 3-4
    • Post a comment with a link to your Goblin and Coins achievements with achievements Goblin and Collector unlocked.

I don't understand. You've submitted the video for verification, it should be done in a few hours at most. I'll send you an invite then and you'll be able to enter all the giveaways in that train. They are open to 27th, and it's only 25th today.

Please note that regular train has arrived into station. Your car might be disembarking any minute now.

Fast train arriving in approx. 2 days. I know it's not logical in speed regards but giveaway logic is solid ;)

Used BomberZone leftover keys to try and create a more inclusive giveaway... try it out and let me know if I messed it up.

I failed miserably at the speed run and I am way too frustrated at the game to try again, so time to edit down the video, render it and upload it. See ya in a few hours :D

In the mean time have a bump!

Edit: rendering it all in one video would take over 5 hours. Directly off to Youtube as 3 parts it goes.

Bump.

Parts of the Event are over. Time for a final bump. I see there is a new GA above. Good for another day;.. :) Go enter.

And now that I bought the Game for this event...... Next time I can do more...... Took me 4 hours to finish it. I never got around to recording or doing the speed run. Next time. :)

Note.... I enjoyed playing the game even if I did buy it just to take part in the event. So it was a win win. :)

As always, all videos, artwork, cooking, speed-runs and anything else will be accepted in the future events too, it's not just for one use. You don't even need to wait for the next event, when you feel like it, record a speed run, have it verified and wait for the opportunity to post a link in some next event thread ;)

lol. Hmmm. I may do another run and get as many coins as I can in case I want that in the future. I kinda want the coins just for my own sake of completeness. I was a couple coins short of 400. Guess I may have to look where the hidden ones are to get them all. I skipped a bunch on the early levels and found some hidden ones by accident. I'm sure there are more.

Perhaps after doing that I will be good enough for a speed run. Time will tell I guess. :)

I'm sure I'll take part in whatever the next event is.

It's a little bit strange to take so long, comparing to others, to verify the score. Maybe there is something wrong with my run.

Well, he's just a human and he has to watch every video to confirm there's no cuts and edits and maybe even use an independent timer so it's not an easy task, and there were a lot of submissions in the last month... but don't worry I have a plan B if something goes wrong.

Only three hours left before the giveaways close. Event is now officially over.

Everyone who submitted their participation has been invited. Regular train closed 2 days ago, all gifts were sent. If you won and didn't claim yet please visit your won gifts page.

I will be at work when fast train giveaways end, so the winners will have to wait a few hours probably but all keys will be sent out today so stick around.

All your existing videos/verified times/other will be acceptable in the future events that have similar/same tasks, so keep it saved so you can re-use at a later time ;)
