Dark ambient, neofolk, renaissance choir music, early 90s darkwave stuff.

Oh and also those obscure post-rock bands that aren't afraid to sing because they actually can sing and have something interesting to say, and aren't afraid to use more than two musical instruments because they can actually play those and have something interesting to play. But that's more of a treasure hunt than a listening habit.

Nope, haven't heard any of those (which in my case is more of a rule than an exception, so feel free to throw more things in my general direction), thankee. Ever since that song by Mamiffer, you've been quite on the mark with your YT linkies - I appreciate that.

EF sound so outdoor and fresh, I almost felt like I were rolling down Arthur's Seat in a sunny September morning. Again. I'm quite looking forward to playing that same EF song on the 19th and pondering the intentionally vague lyrics that could be taken to welcome either of the possible outcomes.

Have you by any chance heard of Halves? (An Irish post-rock band - a very inventive lot, if a bit hit-and-miss on the vocals; but with an audience of about 30 people on their gig in Dublin this June, I think they're criminally undervalued.) I'm only asking because EF's lyrics evoke somewhat similar imagery as those of Halves, and eerily use some of the same symbolism. E.g. the lines 'Through the leaves is the twilight; panic-stricken, we bury bones' in Haunt Me When I'm Drowsy. Bonus points to EF for referencing Eliot's Love Song (I think) and to Halves for using the clips from Hedgehog in the Fog in their performances.

Sanrı are a bit too dancey for my taste, but hey, the Turkish goth scene is thriving! I'm chuffed to see that. )
