you dont want the winner to activate a uplay key and then get suspended because said game isn't in is steam inventory

The rules aren't there to make life difficult, they are there to prevent abuse. No one is saying you don't have good intentions -- and if you do I'd encourage you to stay. But following the rules makes the site work well for everyone and creates a lot of very happy people. Without the rules it's possible for a very small number of people to make everyone else extremely angry.

It baffles me that not being able to give away non steam games is an issue to you. This is steam gifts, I use steam/desura/gog, and if I had games for a platform other than steam I'd find a way other than a GA here to give it away. There are discussion threads here where you can give away non steam games.

Even if you're pissed off with some of the people, or the site in general, that's all the more reason to stay and leech as much free stuff as you can. :D
On a more positive note, while there's always been issues with the site's rules - especially anything relating to CV - people on the forums are generally pretty good natured, and there's no rules on what you can give away here independently from the official giveaways, other than it being legal and not using referrals/asking for payments. Any time I want to give something away these days, I usually do it with an event or puzzle on the forum.

I know people around here sound harsh at times (there's just so many people NOT playing by the rules and cheating on others), but you might want to give this site a second chance - so much fun can be had around here. It's just that it is important to follow the rules. If you bother reading them and think them through you will see they are a well thought out system that works pretty well. The giveaways are for Steam redeemable games, that's the point of the site. If you want to have a different kind of giveaway, go to a different site that allows this sort of stuff or just give the key away randomly in a thread or something. There are plenty of ways to give your games away to people.
