Well, uhm. It's not really to buy the goat, it's just a bonus if you want to donate that much.
If you look in that link, there's a list of rewards for whatever amount you donate for.
You also get: Goat cheese, 2 bars of goat milk soap, a hoodie and a framed picture of a goat along with a baby goat.
The goat is only available to those in WA.
Lol, I just realized how odd the rewards are, but it's all they have.

My old neighbor bought a couple for his yard(like pet lawnmowers). Think they spent about $170 or so if I recall correctly, and an aunt had a cat shipped from California for a bit over 90?
also I think it matters what sort of goat, theres probably a pretty big range from "intended as pet" to "intended as milk" to "bred for meat" as far as what breed it is. Like I know pet pigs are alot vs farm pigs but you can't just cut corners and bring a farm pig inside cause they're like 4x the size.
so really I have no idea at all lol. probably more info online somewhere but it seems a bit niche so I don't feel as helpful as I did when I started typing...
(but its a kickstarter to give the farm a loan, so the goats not really the point(Well obviously it is for whoever gets the goat, and yeah if this was one of the product based kickstarters you'd probably get it cheaper than retail(like Wasteland2, or the bug-a-salt gun) so if it was to breed goats you'd probably get a discount on a theoretical goat they could only breed after getting funding, but I mean mostly they seem to make soap and this isn't money for producing goats its for replacing machinery(machinery that does not assemble goats, it just milks them), the goats just an extra so you feel you're getting something for your money.))

It's a shame that I don't have any money to donate right now. That goat's milk soap would make a lovely gift for my mom.

I find it a bit odd that they give away goats more or less random, as long as the donation is high enough. They wouldn't be able to guarantee the welfare of the goats, what happens to the goats and if they end up being eaten, or get neglected or dumped; people can be pretty impulsive and give up on animals because the "fun" factor has diminished or they had the wrong expectations in the first place.

That goes for any "pet" though.
I'm pretty sure they'll find out some way to judge who can keep goats.
For example, a place to keep the goat, taking them to a vet, caring for it, etc...
I also just doubt that anyone would donate $300 to get a goat and abuse it...

the goats end up being eaten if left there anyway...look at the other rewards(specifically for $700 local). Its like this petting zoo I went to as a kid, was a real working farm but in the spring you could go and pet the lambs....a few months later there was a sign "lambs for sale" :) but on the other side of the sign "whole or half" :(
and after you buy the goat they probably have some kind of paperwork and regulations to go over, legal stuff. they don't just ship it out. I mean you can go to a petstore and buy a dog with the same potential problems theres only so much checking the seller can do or be held responsible for.

I was addressing his specific worry that the new owner of the goat may eat it; he seemed to be under the impression this was one of those fake farms. I meant it pretty much the opposite way than you took it.
(but for the future if you can't handle whatever you thought I was saying it may be best to stay off the internet. not everything is rainbows and sunshine here either and there are no bill e-goats to protect from trolls on the web...only daemons and crawlers and worms)
the main reason I'm here though since you asked was the thread title made me curious, real goats was the last thing I expected

Fuck, I feel so bad not being able to help, no money and I live in Europe. Hell, when it comes down to animals I'd massacre people just to save them.

Hi there, I wasn't sure if this is allowed or not but my friend's really need help in Bainbridge Island, Washington.
They own a goat farm that's going to get taken down because their buildings and equipment aren't high enough in standards to pass what the city wants. Most things were lost in a fire, and they're really low on money to replace or upgrade any of their things.
You obviously don't HAVE to donate, but I would appreciate if you could somehow find someone willing to help them.
They really love their goats and would really love if you could help them, even just a little bit!
Also, if you live near Bainbridge Island, Washington, they're giving a free (baby)goat to people to donate a minimum of $300.
You'll have to pick it up yourself, of course. And will probably need to be somewhere near the vicinity, since they can't ship it around the world or anything.
Their goats just literally had babies this month, so you will probably be able to pick from what they have.
So yeah! Thanks for coming in and taking the time to even read my post, I hope anyone can help!
Here is the video to their project:

(Secret bonus: You also get to visit their beautiful sister.)
