Did you ever pre order?
Iwould preorder games when I get boni, especially boni you only get when you preorder.
Also I might preorder a game when it is an expansion or sequel to a game I liked a lot, or a sister game wth the same or similar mechanics in a different setting that seems interesting.
Only preorder of mine so far:
I bought a Founders Package for Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade, which is like a mixture of preordering and early access.

depends on game & how much I have spare money to spend...
I backed up games on kickstarter before.
If I really want game & want to support developer then I prolly would pre order.
Eg. I preorered The Division because I liked the idea of it & was mad in love with Ghost Recon Phantom. I cancelled it after Unity. (also they delayed division to e1 2016 that's just fancy talk for dec2016. never trusting ubi again)

I've only pre-ordered 3 games in my life, well technically 4 but I didn't pay for the last one.

I only pre-order if I absolutely know I'll be playing it, regardless of reviews or anything else. Examples would include Bloodborne, Arkham Knight, Half-Life 3, etc. Even if all of those games receive 0 percent reviews across the board, I still want to play them.
I also like being able to pre-load.

I learned a lesson about pre-ordering a while back, so I learned to never ever order a game that hadn't been released and reviewed. I haven't pre-ordered a game since then and don't plan to, but the only exception was GTA V since it had already been out for 2 years, and it had already been out on next-gen consoles for a while, which pretty much proved it was worth buying.

The last game I preordered was Diablo 3. Never again. Now I usually wait for the GOTY edition + a sale. I haven't seen a game I wanted to play so bad I was willing to buy at full price in a long, long time. Well, there's Grim Dawn but it's still in early access... I'm probably going to get it as soon as it's released though, if the price remains the same as it is now.

I won a preorder once, which was Street Fighter X Tekken and bought the Pre Order for Dead Rising 3 (russian gift), but besides that I didn't ever preorder and I won't, except if it has a really good discount or some nice preorder bonuses.

I'm cheap, I have a massive backlog, and I'm wary of the release day bugs, so no, I haven't pre-ordered anything in years. Even if I didn't have a backlog, I would still wait for the price to come down (which doesn't take that long for any game). $20 or less is really my sweet spot for video games. The lower price point also allows me more patience with less-than-stellar games. I'm willing to forgive a lot more for $20 than $60.

I've only done three digital preorders, and all of them because they had preorder discount and I didnt think they would be that cheap for another couple of months.
Deus Ex HR for 33% off
Dreamfall Chapters for 20% off + Russian discount
Hyperdimension Neptunia for 50% off + Russian discount

I pre ordered Wolfenstein The Old Blood. When it got released, the price was doubled (atleast in my country). It was worth it.
I also pre ordered:
All of them are worth the price.

i never pre order or even buy at full price (only PES every year)
i am rather waiting for a good GOTY deal - even if it is 2 years later

I have only pre-ordered games from a series I know I already like. I wouldn't risk it on something new, because there's too much crap with launch titles these days.

Why does one want to have a digital game months before it's release? I mean, I understand buying something physical in advance, it's good in case the stock runs out. That's why I got a concert ticket 3 months in advance, but it was cheaper than a pre order game, and even cheaper before.
But why would you do that for a digital game? Stock is unlimited, price is higher, you probably get some extra hats that will be included in a Legendary/Complete/GOTY edition an year later.
But why? Why? Also, why would you hurry and not wait for a sale during the pre order period? Like, you know, Witcher 3 does now, you basically save 10€ and play at the same time with someone who paid 20% extra...
I strongly believe pre ordering is just a retail concept that somehow managed to grasp and work in the digital world... Chance that belief
