Heh, not sure how much you'll like this (probably hate it), but here's some fucked up "industrial" or "future" jazz for ya. Band is disbanded after 2 years due to their singer committing suicide, but they still play live sometimes. Anyway, Misericord by EXP.

I need help with Jazz!
So I'm trying to find the type of Jazz that's found in noir films can anyone name what type of sub-genre that is and / or post a few songs?
Also have some more Grant Green.
Djanjo by Grant Green

Hell fucking yeah. Also, you might wanna try "The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble" and "The Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation". These three bands are labelled "doom jazz", so expect some really noir stuff.
Edit: also, Music from l'Ascenseur by Miles Davis.

If you like Bohren and Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble (both are great bands!), it's worth checking out Univers Zéro: Jack the Ripper, Combat
Also recommended is the soundtrack from the movie Brick, an (awesome) modern hommage to the film noir genre.

Ack! I forgot all about my comment!
I'm about to check out all these bands right now!
Also I've had the Brick OST for sometime now. I love the movie first watched it when I was 13 and it's been my favorite ever since and the soundtrack is just as amazing. Although most soundtrack are "based" on songs like Emily's Theme it's still an amazing soundtrack, kinda wish it had more variety, but it's still an amazing soundtrack nonetheless. Ultimate Tims has been my favorite for awhile.
Wish there were more modern noir films though.

Eric Dolphy, Ornette Coleman and perhaps Sonny Rollins

What Xarabas said. Also Art Blakey and to a degree Sun Ra.

I recently discovered two amazing bands, both maybe more prog-rock than jazz but still jazz enough to fit in here I think.
The first is Secret Chiefs 3. Their work is incredibly diversified, mixing rock, traditional Indian and Persion sounds up to some more orchestral arrangements.
The other one is Laddio Bolocko. I imagine if Red-era King Crimson and Can would have a child together, it would sound a bit like this. :-)

Instead of usual circlejerk topics like "i entered xxx giveaways and i still didn't win anything" it's time to brighten up this place with some classy shit
So let us begin...
Dave Brubeck - Take Five
Miles Davis - So What
John Coltrane - My Favorite Things
Fats Navarro Quintet - Nostalgia
