I shat a little in my pants everytime I watched Big Lebowski. And, still from the same directors, Burn After Reading--Brad Pitt is amazingly comical there.

You have A movies and B movies, but this... the Z movie you'll be laughing at because it's so terrible?

Humor is far too subjective, but... anything by Louis C.K. (including the "failed" TV Show Lucky Louie, it's a blast)

If you enjoy horror comedies then also:
Herbert West Re-Animator,
The Return of the Living Dead,
Young Frankenstein

Bruce Almighty, What About Bob are some very funny ones. I second Tommy Boy and Young Frankenstein (though this isn't a horror movie, it's a spoof of Frankenstein movies), mentioned earlier.

EDIT: If you like dark comedies, then you may like Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, I Married an Axe Murderer.

I'm not really into typical comedies, but... If really bad movies are acceptable here, I would suggest Sharknado and Sand Sharks. They are unforgettable. [Sharknado 2 is coming soon!]

And well, Braindead forever. Just like Shaun of the Dead mentioned before. :)

Even though probably it's not listed as a comedy, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels is definitely the funniest movie I've ever seen (and I've tried quite a few of thoese so called comedies).

Airplane
Animal House
Blues Brothers
Caddyshack
Dr. Strangelove, Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb
Fast Times At Ridgemont High
Idiocracy
Monty Python (Holy Grail, Life of Brian, Meaning of Life)
Pineapple Express
Princess Bride
Role Models
Team America: World Police
The Big Labowski
The Jerk

A good TV show to watch when feeling down is 'Too Cute' on Animal Planet. It's not really a comedy per se, but it will put a smile on your face. I've always thought hospitals should have a channel with the show on 24-7. :)

Every time, but every time that I'm feeling down, the "Friends" series (almost any episode) manages to bring me back up, no matter how dark the situation was. I've seen all episodes three times now and I'm still loving them. Maybe you can give it a try. All the best!
