I played the PS3 version, it is designed with a controller in mind and plays perfectly.

Nice trailer. I still miss some features from the original Xcom and Terror From The Deep.
BTW a new Terror From the Deep will be awesome.

I just started playing Enemy Unknown a week ago, it's very fun, looking forward to this one!

Looks pretty cool, though I must admit, I'm the slightest bit sad that they didn't continue the "It's a reimagined Xcom!" and do the same for Terror from the Deep.

I was hoping for the same. I thought they wait til medium PCs can handle a great graphics underwater environment then go for a Terror from the Deep remake, but this PC exclusive (for the launch at least) looks like they upped the graphics pretty much, compared to Enemy Unknown (assuming those screens are in-game) .

The new enemies/classes/gadgets look like a nice addition. I just hope the sequel goes a bit heavier on story than EU/EW did which was pretty limited to a very generic one, excluding some side-quests.

I didn't expect them to bring Snakemen back.

I've only really played the first XCom(THE OLD ONES) so eh... What are the enemies with the helmets on that look like humans? Is it going to be a rebel humans vs. humans and aliens thing or what?

Those weren't in the X-COM: EU game, but a human enemy force (Called EXALT, which seemed to have similar goals to XCOM) was a secondary enemy in the expansion pack, Enemy Within.

No idea what those apparently human enemies will turn out to be, but I'd expect them as human antagonists.

Well, a heated youtube argument has 'the usual people' claiming that it's definitely not racist/xenophobic themes and that it's just 'lol evil aliens fuk u'. Is there ever going to be / has there ever been a game that doesn't imply, straight off, that 'aliens are evil', with a style of theme and premise of XCom?

I mean, the first XCom has alien descriptions that implied some of the races were genetically modified (the big pink guys IIRC) or enslaved (The grays, I think? Also, the snake guys IIRC).

I normally never care for RTS/strategy games, but god damn did I love XCOM. Still need to get Enemy Within.
Also a little confused as to what happened in the story.

I wonder why it's PC exclusive. Did it sell poorly on consoles? Or maybe they just don't think it'd sell enough on next gen ones. Well no harm for us PC guyz.

That confused me as well. Previous XCOM was optimized well for both keyboard & mouse and gamepad controls, and the UI from the screenshots seen here: http://www.pcgamer.com/xcom-2-announced-is-pc-exclusive/ doesn't look like it's trying to fix stuff that isn't broken in that regard.

Maybe it has to do with the fact that this is announced with procedurally generated levels instead of a limited set of fixed maps ?
(Although, with the Xbone hyping their cloud-based stuff, that would be a good way to showcase that - have some server on the 'net pregenerate the levels to avoid the console spending too much time on that).

Or maybe, they're really going in PC first, make sure that's all in order and only then consider porting. And avoid some of the launch issues they had with the first one.

I doubt. Modding aspect is probably bigger factor.

Procedural generation isn't resource intensive, it's likely randomly selecting certain pre-made parts of map and combining them. Thus maps generated will be similar, but yet different. I doubt it will be totally random, as there's some story involved, so it will be level basis too. (ie. same level will have similar "feeling".)

Cloud is just useless buzzword. It's no use for single player. eg. SimCity.

On one side I'm excited because the reboot was an excellent game

On the other side I'm not excited because I'm not getting it. At least not soon

So I have mixed feelings about it

I soo dislike XCOM EU... cheap difficulty by rasing alien stats, no free fire mode except explosives. no chance to hit anything except scenery or target - aim at one guy standing in crowd with heavy plasma, hit crowd for no damage or some wall... plus they never fixed alien walking through walls when out of sight. Oh and Sectopod teleporting on top of your team... good times.

And that stupid panic mechanic... In old xcom you could have enough dropships amd teams to cover all terror sites, but not here, you're screwed no matter what you do and it feels forced.

I dont even want to start on multilevel camera nightmare.

Well, with the mobile base / resistance thing they're teasing, it's safe to assume that you get to play the offense instead of the defense this time around, and that would flip the "manage the whole world" thing around anyway. We'll see how that works out.
If we do get to play with more than 1 dropship/more than 1 squad at once I'd be happy though.

"I dont even want to start on multilevel camera nightmare."
That indeed needs to be fixed.

Hopefully they learned a thing or two from the Long War mod about replayability. I don't discount the greatness of EU and EW but Long War is the only reason I'm still playing.

Those where a thing before?
I've only played X-com EU & EW and the only thing I disliked in the teaser was that snakeman, it felt kind of lazy compared to the design of other aliens like the Ethereal or the Chryssalids but then again it's just a teaser so I might end up loving them once I see them in action.

Snakemen were in the very first X-COM for DOS, UFO Defense. I thought they didn't want to bring them back after Thin Men replaced them as the resident reptilians.
