So I just found out it's my cake day and naturally decided to do a small giveaway.
I thought to myself what would be an interesting topic to talk about and since we're in an all digital age now and I can't even remember the last time I bought a physical copy of a game (do you guys remember hard-copy manuals), I wondered what are the coolest and oldest games that you guys still physically own a copy of ?

Maybe send a picture of some rare retro special edition :D

Here is one of mine:

Do you have the need for retro speed?

Happy Cake Day!

Civ 3 Complete (DVD case with Civ 4 Complete), Lego Loco (we ditched the box some years ago), Railroad Tycoon 2 (not platinum, with box), Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego (for Windows, with box)
I don't miss the days of manual-based DRM. :D

But yeah, the last time i bought a hard copy of a game was when a local office store was closing and all games were $1 or less. Foolishly, I didn't want anything to do with steam, so I passed up on Mount & Blade Warband, Victoria 2, Crusaders Kings 2, Civ 5 IIRC, and other high-tier games. (many of which i have since purchased at highly inflated prices.)
My favorite of that lot turned out to be Combat Flight Sim 3.

Ahh man $1 is such a bargain! I've also passed on deals that were insanely good when I didn't own a gaming pc, I should have stocked up on them back then but at least we still get good deals now and again from humble ;)

Yeah. 95 % off during that clearance sale, and i skipped buying games (most of which i have since bought) i wanted because they required steam, and at the time i was anti-steam thinking "they don't value our privacy" or some other silly reason.
That and I was saving up for a computer which would actually have a GPU as opposed to a bottom-end cpu/chipset, which is what we had. On our best computer at the time, Euro Truck Simulator 2--with everything set to lowest, and with secondary lighting turned on--ran between 6-15 FPS, usually between 8-12.

Don't have pics, because my CDs & DVDs collection at my parents', but if I remember correctly, the first game that I've bought for myself was Discworld. And it was for MS-DOS :D Didn't know English at all though 😂But the CD itself looked (and looks) awesome:
