Its called throtteling and it is/was a known issue of the new Alienware Laptops ( I have one myself). It means ur internal temperatures get too high and ur graphic card clocks down. Go on their support page and download their bios update. It'll fix it.

maybe its minecraft, have you tried plugging in and out your headset? this weird kind of stuff worked for me

Well I own an Alienware computer and I'm wondering why people always have to say that Alienware sucks and that they should build their own rig and stuff, but hey not everyone can build a computer, so I think it's a nice alternative and it's still possible to upgrade them.
Please leave Alienware alone!(get the joke?) ;)

allienware is very, very overpriced. So yes, better build a same PC yourself for half that price
