Well, seriously now: stop the update, then restart Steam and everything should be fine... It's just a bug from Volvo.

Happened to me yesterday, saw on facebook talking about that, then when i checked already downloaded 2.4, just removed, restarted steam and rebegan the update and it showed 0kb/0kb :)
