It seems that you can have same game two times in steam. One is retail and another is digital.
It's OK to buy this game two times ^^ they deserved it

Do they have different appIDs? I can't think of another logical way for this to exist.

No they don't have different ID. At least on both of them if you press Store link it will open same shop window. After retail activation in shop there was still button "Add to cart", not "Play". So yesterday I tried to activate from amazon and now it shows "Play" button in shop.

Yeah, okay. I tried to see AppIDs on browser where I can see urls.

So there's two ID:
50620
50640

But they both redirects you to 50620 ID.
