Because of course everyone and their dog needs to jump onto the Battle Royale craze, even though that particular market niche is now pretty much locked down by Epic Games.

I don't know man, I think variety is a good thing. Even if the market gets saturated with a particular type of game (BR for instance), the consumer will gravitate towards the ones with better quality/value. I'd rather have 20 different BR games competing for my time, then be stuck with one crappy (read: pubg) game.

Problem really is, once one or two titles achieve dominance, any other newcomers will suffer.
Happened way back when in the RTS space when Command & Conquer and Warcraft 2 ruled the scene (where Warcraft 2 later got knocked down by Starcraft, Total Annihilation proved to be a solid 3rd, and C&C eventually got pushed back by Age of Empires 2)
Then MMOs happend, there were some good attempts and the World of Warcraft took over that niche. Not many others managed to get more than 2 million players after that happened.
Next up, moba's. Where LoL & Dota 2 dominate, Heroes of the Storm manages to do well mostly because of Blizzard's star power & rabid fanbase, and the rest fall far behind even if they have the fanbase needed to stay healthy. Not to mention the long list that was basically dead on arrival despite being full of potential (Epic's Paragon, DC's Infinite Crisis, Petroglyph's Rise of Immorals/Battle for Graxia, and Ironclad's Sins of a Dark Age are a few that spring to mind.)
And finally, Battle Royale - where PUBG was the main proof of concept, Fornite dominates, abd CoDBlopsIIII Blackout mode may be a surprise contender. Meanwhile The Culling nearly killed it's studio and recovery is still uncertain, Racidal Heights failed to save it's studio,, H1Z1 (or whatever it's called now) likely is't going to be good for it's studio's health, and a lot of other companies are announcing their spin on things to lacklustre responses at best.
This happens because once those big titles hit critical mass, they really do become go-to titles, anyone interested in the genre will probably start with one of those, and if they enjoy it, have little to no incentive to move on to other titles with smaller player bases.
