Hello folks.
Halloween sale has begun. I found an old Paysafecard and am able to buy a few things.

It seems that you can't buy an item multiple times on Steam in one go. This really sucks as I need to go through the whole buying process six times. (One for myself, up to 5 times for Steamgifts).

Am I missing something or is it really that inconvenient on Steam?

I know there exist 2-, 3-, 4-Packs on some games but obviously I am aware of them and don't mean those.

Thank you for your time.

Is there a way to buy an item multiple times on Steam in one go?

Yes! (Please explain below)
No!
You can buy an item up to potato times in one go!
Nub!!1!11!!! This is your second thread you ever made here and did 0 GAs!

Nope, it's really that inconvenient. Also when you buy too much copies of the same game your account will be blocked from buying for a period of time.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Wat?
Seriously?
What a double bummer!

Do you happen to know how many times you are allowed to buy and how long you will be blocked?

Unfortunately I don't, but I have bought games 5 times for Steamgifts before so I think you should be safe with 6 copies? Just assuming.

10 transactions in a short timespan will get you blocked for ~1 hour. if you plan on buying a lot, add multiple items to the cart.
at least that's what i remember from several times i got blocked. -.-

Probably depends on the price of the games as well - tried to buy 7 csgo, ended up buying only 6 then getting blocked for like half hour or so

Weird, I never got blocked and I've done stuff like buying 50 copies of Fortix.

I've never been blocked either, but they have my tax info (ssn) on file, so I guess that helps. There is probably a variety of factors that causes the block.

You should be able to buy gifts all at the same time, just activate one of the gifts from your inventory. Normally it's just gifts and personal items can't be bought at the same time.

I had a problem earlier where the basket would reset when I added a new item but I don't think it's suppose to be that way, just a glitch.

"Pack" are small bundles of the same game. 2 pack -> 2 games, 3 pack -> 3, etc. They go into your inventory where you can "unpack" them and send out individual copies to your friends. :)

If I got this correctly, as soon as I bought the game once for me, I am able to buy 5 gifts at once?

As I said I am aware of how the packs work. I just mentioned those to make sure that I am talking about any item.

If they're all the same game, maybe not unless you're buying a "pack".
Edit: oops sorry! It's late, I'm very dizzy atm. :)

My theory is this is a measure to stop price exploits. Valve seems to hate it when people make easy money on steam. I believe thats why so many of the CSGO tournament matches are on Cobblestone. It keeps cobblestone souvenir supply high and prices down.

I never played CS:GO nor I know Cobblestone. So I don't get the analogy but I understand the rest. Thanks for sharing.

Check them out on the market http://steamcommunity.com/market/search?q=cobblestone#p1_price_desc
You can see the older ones are very valuable and rare. Apart from people buying them to open the new ones are much more plentiful and as a result much cheaper than the old ones.

Ah it is like trading cards in the real world. Old editions that aren't printed anymore usually gain value.

No, when the older ones were new they sold for $40, not $20 like the new ones go for.

To put it in a trading card analogy again:

The old editions have been produced in lower quantities back then than the current ones.
PLUS
They are getting even rarer because they aren't printed anymore.

Did I get it now?

Yes, but my point is Valve is artificially making the new ones cheaper with higher availability.

Isn't it a good thing that they try to deflate those items?

Not artificially no, but that's my opinion. Valve doesn't like price anomalies, or anything that lets people take advantage of a way to make money.

If for example a game were accidentally on sale 95% off when it should have been 45% off (and this has happened before) only letting you buy so many gift copies keeps you from taking advantage of that.

Sometimes I can't buy even a bunch of different items in one go, items like DLCs, there are annoying bugs like that.

Never ran into this problem but it is good to know that I could run into it in future. Thanks for sharing.

Well, this happened to me with Payday 2 DLCs. I simply wanted to buy all the missing DLCs in one go. Didn't work, it kept giving me errors until I finally gave up and stopped trying. It was during some big sale, the discounts were nice, it took me a long time to add all the items to the cart and then error. Quite annoying.

Buy in browser. After doing the Buy as Gift, followed by password, you open up multiple copies of that tab (middle click the refresh button does the trick), and then go through each purchase as normal. It can sometimes glitch, and you can only do 10 purchases an hour, but its faster.

Good to know that opening the tab multiple times will work. Thanks.
Then you at least save time on searching and adding the games over and over again.

Oh didn't know about this trick. And I learn it now that I've mostly stopped doing trades (most games from the region I'm in used to be cheaper in my country but now they're cheaper elsewhere).

Nope, and it's awesome when your credit union blocks your card for "suspicious activity" for the umpteenth time because of it :D

If you know the amount you're going to spend, it's easier to add the amount to your steam wallet that way its just one transaction. With Enhanced Steam (or maybe it's Steam inventory helper) you can add any quantity, there is a minimum but if you're going to spend more than that you can add the exact amount.

I've made a userscript that lets you "save" the cart. After you're done purchasing, there is a "Back to Cart" button (right next to the "Back to Store" button). Clicking on it will restore the contents of the cart.
This can save you a great amount of time (if you have more than one item in the cart).
(It's part of a bigger script, most of the features are obsolete/non working and it's in German. ^^)

Also cash in your PSC into the Steam wallet (if you haven't done that already).
