I hear you. This is everywhere today. Reanimation. I'm pretty sure if we checked deeper, there is at least one guy called Herbert West in the production team.
Although I tend to look at it with more leniency when it happens to games, you can always hope for new interesting mechanics, or just more of what you like. I'm more concerned when this happens with movies...
I never even played Shadow of Mordor. Always something else to buy, and when there is a sale or bundle I'm out of cash :'(

Sometimes it's easier to do that with some settings, sure. There are also settings for which I don't care at all about the separation of canon and not (see:most comic book movies) and enjoy it regardless.
Then there is official canon I do my best to thoroughly ignore, like anything related to the Forgotten Realms setting post-Fourth Edition and anything related to Warhammer Age of Smegmar.

I played War in the North once. Unfortunately it was right after very long time spent with first Dragon Age. I was unable to finish War in the North, it just couldn't stand up to what I just experienced in DA. And again, I must confess to ignorance, never tried Battle for Middle-Earth.
Anyway! Lord of the Rings for me personally, is just books, the LotR trilogy from the 2000s. I was never too interested in games set in Middle-Earth. There were always better fantasy themed games out there.

Shadow of Mordor 2 is supposedly going to be officially revealed on monday, so march 8th being a new batman game announcement might still happen.

It was taken from target.com
It was a leak apparently

Dunno .. Have to wait with that ~9 days.
Altough PS4 and Xbox One versions were both listed

Oh nice. The system requirements are about my PC's (though my G4560 might be bottle necked while playing this) specs so I'm happy.
Though I'll just wait to see reviews and the like before I get excited and just play SoM till Shadow of Wardor comes out.

It's almost like the word "War" is often found in the title of games based around... war! :o

Okay, look- don't you go ruining this fanfic-esque God of War X Shadow of Colossus (in Middle Earth) design concept for me. :P
Though I guess that'd just be an entire game of mostly just climbing on giant dragons and doing quick-time events.. huh, y'know, it sounds better before one actually thinks it through. :P

I'll care when it's released. Not fucking half a year in advance.

Is it the second Middle Earth, or the second Shadow of Mordor?
Comment has been collapsed.
In that case, nomenclature would dictate "Middle-Earth: Shadow of War" to be the correct title. If the undertitle had remained the same, it would be "Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor 2"
Comment has been collapsed.
Right, because Middle-Earth isn't being used as a primary title, but as a classification set [to indicate franchise association].
eg, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six, where Tom Clancy is the classification, and Rainbow Six is the actual title.
So a sequel would be Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 2, and if they released it as Blackbow Six, it'd just be Tom Clancy's Blackbow Six- or Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 2: Blackbow Six, if you were intending to reference it in a manner that associated it to the original game.
As such, Shadow of Mordor 2 is correct. :)
Though, it follows in parentheses, indicating it's a further-information addition, so it's correct either way. :P

Yeah first one was awesome, hope the second one will be bigger. I beat the original + all DLC in 30 hours.

Nemesis system was great.... on paper. In practice, it could suck. Hard.
My endgame nemesis was a guy who killed me once.... and then I killed by burning him, throwing him off a cliff, stabbing his through an asshole, shot him through the head twice. It was hard to take him seriously after all these deaths

I hope they succeed in expanding the nemesis system. It was great in concept, but felt a bit underdeveloped.
My main worry though is... yet another open world game. Yes the previous one was an open world game, but I'm seriously suffering from open world action game with meaningless side activities that don't really fit into the world in any logical way and just feel gamey burnout.

I want it and I'll buy it. But not for 99,99€ though. I'm in no hurry :).

Here's the trailer
I haven't played the original but this seems like they're changing the Tolkien lore quite a bit, was the original like that as well?
Also,
Silver Edition includes:
• Silver War Chest
• Over $95 in total value
and the game is Tagged
Single-player
In-App Purchases
Micro-transactions confirmed? 🤔
