Amazon and Netflix is good enough for me. Steam is for games, and gaming related software is ok.

Yeah... this seems to be the case for almost everyone I know.
I really enjoyed Indie Game the Movie, but licensing for selling movies, not rentals is a bit of a pain, and blurring the lines via digital distribution makes it hard as well. Given that, steam seems capable of limited time access to media on a grand scale, but I'm just not sure I really see it happening before the piston comes out at the very least.

Na films are the one thing I want to keep disc based, I love collecting bu-rays hehe
I guess netflix is different though because you aren't paying for each individual film just a whole service.

I wouldn't be surprised if they added movies, since they started adding software.

What about music? They already sell game soundtracks. They also should start deliver pizza.

haha would be awesome to order pizza from steam and buy it as a gift :D

Pizza would require them to give something back to their customer. And Valve hates giving something back to their customers, why do you think they're pushing digital distribution so much?
Comment has been collapsed.
Well they are actually giving you things.
Storage, banwidth and that are expensive, apart from serves, and you get the content on your computer when you buy and download a game.
It's not like they were selling air.

Pizza 75% off or Pizza complete pack? Hell yeah! And now exclusively, extra free slice of pizza if enough people pre-purchase. xD

Stick to what you're good at, I say. Hate it when companies try to do everything, even when it's already being done well by others.

Well by others? Ok, name me golabaly accesible service that's already available for this. And nope, it is not Netflix, Amazon or Hulu - those are limited to US and maybe few other countries.

Have you tried to use Calibre? You should have a look at it ;)

I agree, Steam should sell movies, music, and e-books. I also think it would be cool if they did pay-per events like concerts and sports. Maybe even hook up with a satellite or cable TV companies to provide TV channels as well. Just expand their mobile app some and we could replace the Apple App Store and Play Market. Another cool idea is take Amazon's business plan allow other products to be ordered using your Steam Wallet. I personally would love to idle in TF2 and sell the items that I can on the Steam Market to buy a Porsche. Steam would be kinda like a hybrid of Skynet and the Matrix which are two of my favorite movies, so I am all for it.

hoooo hooo , hold that u went to much steam store doesn't , and I hope will never sell physical items like ur beloved Porsche , just new valve steam boxes and may other related game stuff like valve game controller , but movie is just like steam games add to ur library and simply watch it ;)

Now seriously I'd love to play my Steam games (obviously the ones with android versions, not Borderlands2) on my mobile device. if they offered that option it would be great.

HOW HAVE I BEEN ABLE TO LIVE WITHOUT THAT!!!ONE!!!1!1!!

They'll have Netflix for that new hardware thing they're working on. I don't think anything else is necessary. I might be a minority but Stean isn't like my own personal little shop where I'd love to buy anything. I go to the grocery shop if I want groceries, and even then I like to look around in other shops, because they might have what even my favourite don't.

I think that was an completely unnecessary clarification.

In that case, would it not be better to simply trot down to the place, looking like all you can be - instead of opening the door in your "practically naked, havn't showered for days, cheeto-fingers, just wants to sit on his arse and play games while eating greasy, greasy pizza" outfit?
You do have a point, though. But you know what they say about mixing business and pleasure (or, rather, dipping your pen in the company ink. Or, in this case: dipping the company pen in your ink..)

Not a problem. Just don't order the 3 cheese pizza though. There's no telling when/if it will ever arrive...

1) It's never a good thing when a compamy sells everything that's possible.
2) There are many regional problems when they want to sell movies, music and such stuff. It's difficult to acquire licenses to sell in all countries and when Steam starts to sell movies only in one country they wold rather lose costumers.

I don't see any problems there.
Why is it never a good idea to diversify a companies range of products? I have also never heard of Germans not buying at Steam anymore because Dead Island is not available for them. So which customers would they loose? Those which have yet never touched Steam?
Some sort of streaming service would also make the soonish Steam console more attractive.

That's a very ugly bump you have there. It would be a shame if something would happen to it.

Not sure how mch profit will they make with something like this but it's an interesting idea, expecially since Netflix and other similar services are available in only a few countries.
However, they shouldn't mix Games/Apps with Movies/Music/Shows. The best thing to do is have a different service for this or at least a different client.

I think It Would be a good Idea , but is that possible ?
EDIT : Here in Iran there is no legal foreign movie store available and we have to use pirate versions ( I don't want to pirate anything ) but if this dream comes true would be really useful for me ;)
