It was pretty much a rhetorical question but yeah, that is my guess too and the reason why I would never back something on a crowdfunding platform that doesn't treat their backers as investors. I don't mind when small innovators use Kickstarter but companies that have the money should carry the financial risks themselves. Also what risk... those games sell like sliced bread.

I have to admit I didn't read the Kickstarter pitch carefully and assumed from "Apparently it's coming to Steam" that it's another game. Considering it's Anime which is kind of new terrain for them that makes it more understandable why they use Kickstarter.

When it comes to Anime, Voice Actors + Animation + Publisher takes the most Funds in Japan.
Especially with Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works which took so much Budget for Ufotable on it Animation Part.

I don't think the Sakura Series can beat NEKO WORKs since they actually do a proper Visual Novel with Animation and Voice Acting which all sums up to have a better experience.

Yeah, Sakura VNs got popular on Steam because the ecchi niche wasn't a thing on Steam before, and I know a lot of people bought it for shits and giggles because "LOL BOOBS". Sakura anime would be too cliche to succeed, it wouldn't offer anything any other ecchi anime does, unless they would somehow surprise everyone.

yes but.... 50€ for a OVA?! you can buy a lot of full series for this price or less. Or 10months of CR (yes I know include the digital dowload of the ova and ost but still expensive)
