I feel very obligated to play any game I win on SG out of respect to the giver of the game.

I have a lot of games on my library that i want to try out, but i work full time, and download speed here isn't the fastest, downloading an average 16 GB game, would take me like 12 hours to download at full speed. Besides i can't get off DOTA for now, seems i became addicted to the strategy style of DOTA. :( But yeah sometimes i would like to try them all.

People often get this weird inclination to do stuff even if they don't get anything out of it.
If you don't feel like finishing a game, don't.

I have gaming ADD so I just play stuff at random usually, I will eventually get to everything....

I feel very obligated, especially if it's a game that I've won/been given.
I try to finish my unfinished games before adding to that list from my backlog, so if I do win/get gifted a game, I hope everyone knows that I only enter to win games that I'd actually play, so they will get played at some point.

I don't feel all that obligated to play the games I have. Generally, the games I get are ones that I do want to play, but I just don't have the time to play everything I get right away. So most games have to sit in a (long) queue. I'm OK with that because I do intend to try all the games I have eventually. I keep a bunch of "anytime" games installed, things that don't have real story lines to follow and are easy to pick up and put down at will. I try to only have a few games with real story lines in progress at once, because I would like to get through those. Sometimes if I lose interest, I relegate them to my "unfinished" category and hope to come back to them in the future. Most of the time I'm not too worried about actually finishing games, as long as I enjoy the play I do get from them.

With games I've bought, I'm not too worried. I bought Bioshock 1 and 2 over a year ago and only just played the first one. I bought Dead Space 1 and Mass Effect 1 and 2 about the same time and only put a few hours into ME1. It's only my own money wasted so it's my own problem.
With games I win, that's different. I have a substantial backlog of those and I've gotten to the stage where I'm not entering even for some wishlist games with really good odds (and with that I mean, 1:10 or 1:20) simply because I would feel guilty for winning them when I have other stuff as yet unplayed. I'd rather someone else wins it who'd play and enjoy it straight away.

For some reason I'm obsessed with collecting games. I don't know why. I haven't played nearly half of the games in my inventory, and I really do want to play most if not all of them. It seems I'll just get addicted to a certain game (DayZ mod right now) and keep collecting other games all the while. I've got a ton of great games installed that I haven't even touched.

My backlog is so bad I made a group about it.
Now I spend all my time in group chat instead of playing games :P

i did feel a little obligated on the early days, but with the rise of bundles i just care for the fun and discovery, that means i mean to try almost all games i get, to see if i like them.
i think in a way that is the spirit of bundles, to try things, and sometimes you find something you like that you didn't know about. So i may get a bundle for one or two games i really want, but sometimes the other bundled games make a surprise.

Man I definitely feel obligated to play the games, too bad I can't play them because I don't have enough time to do it :\
Play as much as you can. Play one at a time even if at start you don't like it because at middle you might love the game and say: "Damn this is worth the money I gave" Don't be only a collector ;)

I feel obligated to play all of them, but nothing more. I will not play a game after it stops being fun, regardless of how much I spent on it. I also don't calculate how many hours I get per $1 at all. Seems like a weird thing to do. If you greatly enjoy a game for 2 hours, that's better than playing one for 10 hours with minimal enjoyment. And that sort of hours/$ thinking among gamers creates the bad habit of developers to create cheap, unfun filler content just to extend the playtime.
That aside, I do have a massive backlog. The reason is that I take my time with good games, exploring and modding them for tens and sometimes hundreds of hours.

I'm the same way, always collecting, I try to stick with one major game at a time and bounce between only a few indies at the same time, like I played BioShock Infinite and then I'd do a cpl levels in Thomas was alone, which was great for calming down after an intense (cheap) fight. right now its xcom and. battle block theater

less games i buy, the more i am interested in the ones i currently own... unless a game bores me i wont stop playing it e.g. the 200 hours i just put into dark souls and still going

I told myself that I wouldn't get like this, but as of recent I've become more of a game collector rather than a game player. My backlog is infinitely expanding and I hate to see so many games unplayed, but life gets in the way and all that jazz. So I'm curious, how keen are you on finishing the games you own? I've always had this unrealistic ideology that for how much I spent on a game, I'd like to get an hour per $1, and sometimes it happens since I never buy games full price, but it rarely does. So I'm curious how do you guys go about clearing your backlog, or if there's a large chunk of games sitting in your steam library crying to be played and you just turn blind eye like I do..
