So, after buying my new budget gaming rig (400€ for the full tower) i am after a big screen to play, watch movies and general computer use.
Currently i have an 19" 1440x900 75Hz TFT.

For my budget (around 300€) i have 2 options:

-Option 1: 26" 1920 x 1080

-Option 2: 32" 1366 x 768

I have a HD 7770 Ghz Edition, so i won't be able to play recent games like FC3 on 1080p with high settings. But going from 1440 x 900 to 1366 x 768 seems kinda bad.

So, what do you guys think about this? What are you using as your main screen?

Hugs and Kisses xD

EDIT: Yesterday i got a 32" FullHD LED TV. My face is about 1meter away from it so some time i notice some pixels, bout apart from that it's great. Played L4D2 in co-op during the nigth at it is amazing!

42" Samsung LCD

(don't judge me, I only played that game for like a week)

As for you, I would go with the 1920x1080 monitor for the sake of being more usable in the future (like if you upgraded your video card in the future your monitor would not be holding you back) and because you can play HD movies at full resolution.

42" ??? Damn!
Isn't that too much for a PC monitor? xD

Yeah, i am more inclined to the bigger resolution. Like you have sayed, "more usable in the future", as i don't expect to buy a new monitor any year soon. ahhaha

Well it's not just my PC monitor, it's also for watching TV, movies, playing PS3, etc.

Besides, when you're playing a first person game like Skyrim, Borderlands 2, Far Cry 3, etc. with really big screen it's pretty fucking amazing since the screen fills up most of your visual range. It's like I'm almost in the game myself, bashing draugr's with a mace or blasting bandits in the face with a revolver.

How is this even an option? I would go for 1920x1080 over anything lower blindfolded...you can play games on lower res as long as they ar 16:9 format...
1080p is really cool for web browsing, watching movies and especially for gaming (if the hardware allows xD)

Honestly I would take the option 2 if provided the choice, things is you will be able to run games better and from a tiny distance you won't notice the slight resolution decrease, actually most of my games look better on my 720p TV.

Both would do you fine though...though if its not only for games get a regular PC screen.

Mrs. Hillary Clinton, I don't want to be rude, but you can run 720p resolution on a 1080p screen.

I'd take monitor, not TV, these are unoptimized for tasks you do daily on PC, you know, unless that will be game-only PC.

I've been looking at getting this 24" 1920x1200 monitor for my new computer that I will hopefully be getting some time soon.

Personally I'd prefer to go for higher resolution over bigger size, particularly as it is going to be sitting only a short distance away on the desk in front of me. Anything much bigger than this and I think I'll have to start moving my head around too much or I'd have to move the screen further away, which would seem to defeat the point of spending more to get a larger size anyway...

Also if you want it for gaming you might want to look into the pixel response time as well as the refresh rate. As I understand it, too low of a response time will make fast movements in games blurry or leave ghost images, and too low Hz for the refresh rate will limit the smoothness you can experience with games running at high frame rates.

I have three ASUS VH242Hs (23.6" 1080p) set up like this. I'm pretty happy with my setup to say the least.

I would NOT reccomend a tv as monitor. It is not set up to handle many resolutions, but worst thing is, that even on "gaming mode", most tv's have en input lag of 50+ms. You will actually feel your mouse being laggy.

Works fine for me, I've never noticed any mouse/keyboard lag. Unless you're some sort of sad ultra-competetive FPS player it's not really going to be a problem.

Yep, never had any lag on my TV also, I usually notice that kinda stuff right away, I am anal about lag...

Agree. TV is not for gaming. Except if you are a casual player.
Buying a non full HD TV in 2013 is also a big mistake.

Casual player here, so micro-lag is not a problem to me. And my brain is so f*cked up that i can't really notice that kind of stuff... ahahahah

Get an Asus VS248H-P (24inch led). You can hook up your dvd/blu-ray player to the hmdi and it will play out of the speakers.

Very high resolution is not a fact for me to take in consideration. I only have a hd 7770 and a Phenom II 965 be, so can't play on very high resolutions even if i wanted to.

I never liked consoles, but since last year i really enjoy playing games like dirt2, gta4, indies, etc with a DS3 controller from the couch i have in my room, so actual size matters to me.

I will go to store in about an hour, so i will update you guys later.
