Can someone recommend me a good virus scanner?

Try F-Secure online scanner. Only heard good things about it. Their antivirus is a little heavy though.

Assuming you have a legitimate copy of Windows, use Microsoft Security Essentials.

I have a mac and I used clamxav to scan stuff

AVG free (or AVG paid), Windows security essentials, malware bytes. those are the 3 i use on my main pc.

try avast, got rid of shittons of virus with it, plus i love the virus detected sound, is good to caugth your attention.

use Combofix, good virus scanner, no antvirus.

Dr.Web CureIt will be the best. It's not antivirus, it's just a scanner that will fix your PC even if the virus will have your computer under it's control already. Trust me - don't listen to those who say AVG, Kaspersky, Avast, MSE etc. - those programs are all antiviruses not just virus scanners. I have used Dr.Web CureIt when I had my Skype infected and when I had some windows popping up that I couldn't close. Scanned my computer with it while in safe mode and everything got cleaned and fixed.
