I`d say Fallout 3

I was new to fallout and preferred fallout 3 way more than I'm liking New Vegas. NV seems to have less moral ambiguity and far less compelling plot ('I got shot and mugged' vs 'find your dad').

I asked if NV was worth getting and fans of the series told me 'If you liked 1 or 2, you'll prefer New Vegas. If you're new to the series, you'll prefer 3'.

Though if you've played Skyrim you'll be begging to tear that pipboy from your arm.

"less moral ambiguity"

Thats what makes it better if you ask me...not to say FO3 is a bad game, its just to black and white, NV is superior in dialog and story, at least most would agree on that. Bethesda is terrible with story, FO3 doesn't feel like a Fallout game honestly, feels like an pretty alright open world game in general though.

I played both through and am now playing NV on PC. Might get 3 just because its cheap now and is still a fun open world game, but for Fallout fans I would try to disconnect them in your head or you will wind up being disappointed.

To me this is what is most interesting about F3/NV, you'll get folk on both sides, Pepsi or Coke?

Such as I found NV to be the less morally ambiguous game. Nipton draws a black/white line for the main factions REALLY early in the game, while F3's factions each had their pros/cons and I never felt comfortable with any of them.

The quests in NV were almost as bad as in Skyrim, which is to say they existed solely to litter the quest log without providing anything in the way of story.

There was nothing good about NV. It was half finished and with an absolutely awful plot.

So you're saying the misc. quests in Skyrim were somehow not shit, or that the identical quests in NV were also somehow not shit? Here's a clue if you're stuck: they were both shit.

I think I saw a mod for that.

Didn't even think about modding it. Gods, I've been playing a PS3 for far too long...

I never got the mods recommended to fix it, they seemed to cause it to crash funny enough.

I have a lot of mods(50+, some huge in size) and never experience crashing, I must be lucky.

I played Skyrim before NV (fallout 3 doesn't work on my multi-core computer and I can't find a fix that works) and oh my god, the controls are so different that I can't play both in one day without opening like 50 different UI tabs accidentally. plus, ESCAPE DOESN'T CLOSE MENUS OHMAGAWD

I have to agree, I like the Obsidian charm back in my Fallout.

They are both evenly good games.
I'd say NV is a bit more linear and invovled in the main story and FO3 is more open-world sandbox.

Both. They are cheap now.

They're both amazingly good games and cheap as hell, but I personally enjoyed New Vegas far more than FO3.

They're even cheaper on gamefly. Use code GFDAUG20 for US(maybe global, i dunno about that) or GFDAUG20UK for UK. FO3 is NOT for Steam though.

Doesn't really matter imho. I have non-steam FO3. You can launch it via steam if you really want the overlay, and can get your mods direct from fo3 nexus.

New vegas, for the simple reason that you dont have to deal with GfWL. FO3 is a bit more combat focused, New vegas is far more "social" than FO3. But for that price? get both

Go to the forum page, type in "Fallout 3 or Fallout New Vegas" in the search box. Please don't tell me you need any more info than that =/

New Vegas. But do play Fallout 1 and 2 before that if you haven't.

Both games are good but FO3 has my heart. I also prefer FO3's DLCs over New Vegas'. I thought they were a tad boring and bland.

To sum it up, I like FO3 for the combat and DLCs, but I prefer the story/atmosphere of FNV.

if you buy the dlc too I would recommend fallout 3. with dlcs it's just the best gameever

if not, well, you have to decide which scenario you like more. I think the whole western thingy with the endless and empty prairie seems more realistic and it therefore appeals more to me. on the other hand you have the big cities of fallout 3 which are quite charming too.

i prefer 3 over New Vegas. i like the exploration more & the main storyline stood out more to me.
although im really digging the Old World Blues DLC storyline in New Vegas currently. so far, this storyline really intrigued me but thats been the standout storyline for me in this whole game, so far.
Fallout 3 just had some really standout NPC characters compared to New Vegas. there havent been as many standout moments for me, when playing New Vegas, compared to Fallout 3.

Get New Vegas UE. The dlcs are better than Fallout 3s and the overall game is better aswell.

New Vegas, FO3 gets boring a bit. The enemies consist of Super Mutants and Ghouls. The environments is just not as fun as New Vegas. NV DLC is better as well.

New Vegas, but get it from Gamefly, you get an extra 20% off with (GFDAUG20) the Steam price.
