I agree, howlongtobeat is very helpful. It's not always correct, but it's usually pretty close. I definitely recommend it.

Good site, I use it a lot, especially if I am looking for a short game I can beat in a few hours for those times when you don't want or have the time to get involved in a 20-60 hour game.
Also http://www.lorenzostanco.com/lab/steam/ is a great site if you are looking to filter your steam games by tags, review score, features or other filters if you want to find a certain type of game.

Right. I didn't think about sorting. I don't log in, just search the games I have at hand.
For example, I was surprised to see that Westerado was just 2 hours long for the main quest and 8 1/2 hours for a completionist approach. Even if I push it to 6 hours, it's still a very short game that I can afford to begin and finish within a day or a few days, which by the standards of a young father is more approachable than, let's say, a Sunless Sea.
So I'm quite happy with the unlogged features.

If you only want to see completion times then there's no need to login, just scroll down a bit and you'll find a "Let us help you" section where you can enter your Steam ID; after that click "Estimate time" and it will load a list of your games and relative times :)
EDIT:
it's on the homepage.
and, of course, you can sort the list ;)

+1
I warmly recommend this group.
I've been a member a few months ago but I just can't keep up.
However, I'm slowly progressing within my backlog. I've tried lots of games. Just haven't been very far because many games are just plain boring. Then there are games that I know I will like but for which I want to have uninterrupted time before hand. If I know how long they might be, I can make an informed schedule.

I find I'm much slower w/ playtime than the averages for some reason. 50-100% slower in many cases.
But I'm also resigned to the idea that I'll never finish my backlog. They make games faster than they can be played.

I prefer to see myself as optimistic and aspirational. ;-) or deluded ;-)

True. I'm imagining folks on howlongtobeat racing through games with focus. Or maybe I'm just pretty terrible at figuring out things that are obvious to other people? ;-) I do like to wonder around and look at level design also, though ;-)

Regarding this topic: Anyone knows how to measure the playtime of a non-steam game?
I created a powershell script long ago to do it, but it's crap because I've been too lazy to do it properly. lol

This site actually helped me in my gameplays. Made everything organized.

I always have to double the time mentioned in howlongtobeat. Triple, if it's an RPG.
But I'm slow as hell at most games.

If you don't already know it, the site howlongtobeat.com might interest some people here who have an increasing backlog.
Since I plan to kill mine, I'm better off knowing if I can finish a short game during working hours.
