Hi, I have heard that Deponia had a very good story, suddenly the countless giveaways this game now, I entered many giveaways hoping to win one.
I am hooked on this kind of games, with a well-crafted story, either futuristic or not, and I would like to know if any of you would advise me to games (available in French if possible, as I am French)

And I'm only on PC.

  • LISA - Adult Earthbound-esque RPG
  • Transistor - Sci-fi-ish RPG with amazing soundtrack
  • Undertale - Haven't played yet, but I've been watching videos. An indie game doesn't get a 97 on metacritic for nothing.

Well, there's the obvious: the best story in a video game ever and therefore the best video game ever...BIOSHOCK. Nothing like it before it, nothing like it after it (no, System Shock 2 is just a blatant rip-off of 2001: A Space Odyssey, Boshock 2 sucks balls and Bioshock Infinite is a different thing entirely, so what I said is totally legit).

Other great stories in video games, in this exact order are: Max Payne 2, Spec Ops: The Line, S.T.A.L.K.E.R - Shadow of Chernobyl, Max Payne, The Witcher, Grand Theft Auto 4, Advent Rising, World in Conflict, Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, F.E.A.R, Dead Space 2, Far Cry 3, Tomb Raider, Fallout 3.

Dark Souls (Not being sarcastic here. I am not being sarcastic)

Now, there is a lot of good recomendations here so, I dont want to repeat but

what about fallout series?

Now, I know is buggy and weird and you need a fix (like dark souls!) but what about Deadly Premonition? Its like twin peaks by a japanese. You should feel hooked! Ah? Ah? No?

Well... What about the batman series? The arkham assylum, city...

Also you can try Deus Ex, the first one, the classic and the last one, human revolution . Never played the second one but it was lineal for what i heard.

And, remember, Spec Ops: The line. What a hidden gem, what a great story.

Sorry for my english, its not my mother language

Whenever someone asks something like this the first game that comes to mind is always The Longest Journey. It's a point-and-click game with a wonderful story. It's a part of a series called Dreamfall, definitely something worth checking out if you enjoy a good story!

As others have already said, anything by Telltale Games, the king of interactive storytelling. To The Moon is also quite good

I might have being missed seeing it mentioned before, but a great short game with an engrossing story is The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. Also some of the ones mentioned before... Bioshock series, Spec Ops, L.A Noire, Transistor, etc :P

Going through my list I can recommend (judjing by story, not in generall):
Point and Click: Expect nearly all Telltale and Daedalic Point and click games to be good in terms of story. To highlight some: Deponia Series, The Walding Dead, The Wolf Among Us
Other Point and Click's: The Cat Lady, The Fall, Papers Please, To The Moon
Puzzles: Braid, Portal Series, The Swapper
"Walk Simulater" (e.g. easy puzzles/ exploration/...): Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons, Dear Esther, Gone Home, The Stanlay Parable, A Story About My Uncle
Action/Fight/Tactic: The Banner Saga, Bastion, Transistor,
AAA Titles: Not an expert here. Most of them are focused more on gameplay rather than story. I like Bioshock for narratives. I'm sure others will tell you more games.

Thanks a lot to you. I went for a ride on the Daedalic site to see, and I think I have found my happiness with Skyhill came out recently and A New Beginning ect... All of the games they do are in french, this is so cool ^^
