I would say One X imo. Flash a ROM on xda-dev or rootzwiki.

I can only recommend what I've used. My current phone is the Samsung Gio. It's pretty awesome. You can do all the web surfing, email, facebook, twitter. Plus get all the games and apps. It's cheap to.

I've got an HTC Desire HD. I recommend it if you're going the HTC route!

Sony xperia tipo. A pretty new phone so it has a new android version, costs about 130-160. Nokia Lumia has a nice UI imo, but if you like spotify, skip the lumia phone since they don't yet support spotify.
