Often mindless flood, giving thanks with no meaning, often from ppl who are too lazy to read description ("don't flood my giveaway with "thx"!").

Some ppl wrote 1 sentence like 2 months ago and from then only copy/paste it:
https://www.google.com/search?q=site:steamgifts.com+Hope+a+god+of+randomness+will+choose+me...+Anyway+thank+you+for+chance. It has nothing to do with sincere gratitude.

And some just use scripts that post "thx" when they only enter giveaway, that's pathetic. And even more pathetic are giveaways, where creators require to give them thanks (big ego).

I don't know, why do people keep asking the same questions?

I like it when people say thanks on the giveaways I make, so I say thanks on others.

I like being thanked when I do things so I thank people who do them too, that easy.

Yeah, it's better to get a half-heartless "thanks" than being ignored for your generousity.

You are thankfull for the chance to win a game you want. If it's a game I really want, I usually writes something more, something more meaningful. You can't always come up with something meaningful though, and a "thanks" is better than just entering and leaving in my opinion.

"Always thank submitters."
And use the search tool next time - this thread was here at least 100 times.

I don't think that means you have to say thanks in the comments, but thank the gifter if you win.

Well it's moreso of a courtesy because the person is giving away something they (usually/sometimes may have) paid money for so that someone else can get a chance to enjoy it. You're thanking the person for being generous in this regard to try and encourage the behavior. It doesn't matter if you win or not, just given the chance to win.

That and as said it's in the site rules that it's good form to always thank the submitters.

I understand why people say thanks and I am not against people doing it, I just don't see the point of having 5+ pages of people copy/pasting the word thanks. And as I said in another post here, I have started to only say thanks if there aren't many comments on the giveaway page.

If it is really a problem then maybe there should be a 'Thanks' button built in to the site, and then also an option that automatically clicks the 'Thanks' when you enter any giveaway. Whether pasting it, or if it's done automatically, it makes no difference.

Yeah I got tired of signing the same forms over and over again as Washington Irving and so I switched it up and started signing as Irving Washington. After a while though it seemed like someone might catch on to it and recognize what was going on so I started wearing a fake mustache and sunglasses while doing it.

So far the coast seems clear.

I only say thanks now if there aren't many people who have already thanked the person gifting. Of course, I do say thanks if I win.

It's because the Steamgifts community is and always has been full of self-righteous trolls.

If the giveaway creator likes "Thanks" spam, you're doing what they want and are better than the people who don't thank them! Hooray! <-- Proof: This thread as a whole.

If the giveaway creator doesn't like "Thanks" spam, you're trolling them! LOLOLOLOL! <-- Proof: This thread as a whole.
