No story, i was walking to an Accounting school Saturday at 8 AM and someone came from behind and stabbed me for no reason(they didnt want to rob me or anything), i didnt have enough time to do anything more than crawl , get on my back and when i had the chance start running towards a Mall, i stayed there for like 5 minutes and later went to a subway station to get some help D:. After that i went to the hospital where my mom works and got patched up there :3
I'm glad that it didn;t hit my spinal column or else i would be in a wheelchair.

The longest I've ever been in hospital was for a few hours while they gave me a glucose-saline I.V. to treat me for dehydration. I had a severe case of the flu or dysentery or something. Thank god that I've never had anything worse than mononucleosis.

I went there a few times in my life, from early childhood (2 or 3 years) to a few years ago: inguinal hernia, broken femur, cyst removal, etc... Not really bad things, only a bad time to go through. Everything went always fine, but the most enjoyable thing is still when you go out :)

In a hospital or specifically for surgery? I've had my appendix removed as well, it got swollen, couldn't keep any food down and to make it worse, for the operation I wasn't even allowed a sip of water for a day. Cherry on the cake was that it was two days before the big gaming expo here. Needless to say, I couldn't make it

Three times; well, three specific reasons. One had me in and out for weeks, but I've never had to stay overnight or anything.
When I was 7, I was paralyzed from the waist down for 2 months. I was so sick I couldn't hold down any food or water. Had to go in three times a week for an IV. They also threw me in for a CT scan.
And the funniest thing - they accused my parents of 'withholding food'. Of course, that explains why my self-employed parents essentially shut down their business for those 2 months to take care of me. Good call.
Went back at 12 for a far less eventful trip. I broke my left collarbone. The staff had improved by then, but they were still more focused on getting an x-ray of my elbow than my shoulder. Let's tend to the area that isn't purple and swollen.
And lastly, when I was 16 I had to have a blood test to check my liver. I was on an anti-fungal and it had a nasty side effect of liver failure. My primary just wanted to make sure I'd be fine, but I was out of state when it was "supposed" to be done.. so I just went to a hospital. They never actually gave me my results, but my skin hasn't turned yellow yet so I think I'm okay.

Had a pulmonary embolism 2 years ago which also in turn triggered diabetes in me (stress to the body I guess). I had blood clots in my lungs and could barely breathe when talking, and my blood sugars were like over 400 (normally should be like 70-130). Should have died right there and then. I have to be on blood thinners AND insulin probably the rest of my life now. Blood clots are nothing to mess with. The gamer life is a dangerous one. Don't think it can't happen to you. As a gamer and someone with a sit-down office job, it was only a matter of time. In general, a gamer's sedentary lifestyle can greatly increase chance for deep vein thrombosis (clots in legs) and pulmonary embolism. Take a minute when gaming to stretch and move around! Every hour or so is ideal.

Eh, it happens. At first I thought it was the end of the world. Scary stuff. But I've since adjusted to things, and I still have a long road ahead as I need to get in shape and take care of myself better, but it could always be worse. I could not exist right now. I certainly enjoy every day given to me, that's for sure. You just roll with the punches and do the best you can. Also glad to hear you whooped cancer's a##. It took my mom 4 years ago...I hope a cure is found, if the medical community could realize for a moment that people's lives are worth more than any profits from cancer treatment.

I Had Rheumatic Fever When I Was 15 Years Old. Had A Rash All Over My Body, A Serious Fever And My Left Knee Swelled Up With Pus Till It Was As Big As A Small Basketball. The Doctors Had To Monitor My Brain And Heart To Make Certain That There Would Be No Damage As I Was Hospitalized For A Week And A Half Being Treated With Antibiotics. And Then There Was The NEEDLE... Oh, The Needle With The Hole That I Could See At Its Point- THAT'S How Big It Was... The Doctor Had To Jab It InTo My Knee, Under The KneeCap To Drain Out All That Greenish-Yellow Pus. He Couldn't Freeze The Area, So It Was Really Fucking Painfull.
And THAT Was My Stay In A Hospital.

Haven't been in hospital for many years. I ate a bad egg and got salmonella.

Two times at least. One as a kid, had some problem in my right knee and needed surgery. The second time was more recent, around Jan and had the same surgery as you, spent about 1 week in the hospital, I was bored to death.

I spent about two weeks in hospital, and another two months in outpatient care, after suffering a serious concussion in a hockey game in high school. It was particularly awkward because I played goalie, play was stopped, and one of my teammates partially caused it by accidentally knocking me over, and I partially caused it by zoning out...a goalie not paying attention. Fuuuuuuuuuuuu.

+1
I had the same thing for both of my toes as well. But one day I just had enough of accidentally kicked something and end up bloody, I picked up an eyelash scissor and operate the nails meself.
Damn, it is such a nasty business, but both my toes are all good now. Eventhough it's ugly.

Nearly killed myself last year, signed an AMA and was diagnosed about a month later with OCD. Been of Zoloft since then until a few days ago, started smoking weed today, feeling pretty good so far.

I had to have my appendix taken out, but, I am here because I want to ask, have any of you been in hospital, and what for?
EDIT: I know its not game related, but it is something I would like to ask people.
