Crytek looking to buy Darksiders IP

Hope they will make it.

edit: The guy who tweeted is former Vigil Games Boss, and now he's in charge of Crytek USA.

Crytek USA is a team formed by many ex-vigil games devs.

Agreed. I have yet to finish DS2 because of backlog and life. But I absolutely love the way DS1 and DS2 play, and have always loved the fact that when I played DS1 War felt like a huge big beefy hard hitting guy, and Death is the complete opposite with agility and dodging. They captured the feeling so well.

My big turn off with the games has always been the hit boxes though, sometimes it feels like I am hacking at air even when I am hitting them.

As long as they do not make a crappy game with the stupid cryengine I'm fine. Story and combat are the best things this IP has, I just hope they don't fuck it if they finally buy it.

Well, Crytek aren't EA-exclusive anymore; their upcoming Warface (which is high on the list for Worst Name Ever) is published by Trion.

Crytek said they weren't interested in making new Darksiders games, so even if they buy the IP "back", they might just sit on it forever.

Strange, I expected sale of Darksiders IP earlier when they sold most of THQ IPs.
Btw I don't understand part "The IP belongs in the hands of its creators."
Can someone inform me? Wasn't the first Darksiders published by THQ or they bought it before publishing?

Darksiders IP wasn't bought because there wasn't anything currently in development.

All the other IPs had a game in the works, so the buyer got a partially complete game for their purchase.

Would be nice. Even if they do not make a new game right now, it leaves the choice for the future...as long as the game is a real Darksiders and not Crysisiders.
I totally agree with his "The IP belongs in the hands of its creators" sentence. Too many IPs are in the hands of companies who will never make anything of it or something worse than nothing.
