So I started Alan Wake today, and it continually reminds me of Alone in the Dark, not Alone in the Dark. Why was Alan Wake so popular when it seems to be a copy of the gameplay of Alone in the Dark (which was not so popular)?

They're both badasses, but Edward Carnby has the better name.

Edit 1: Wasn't Alone in the Dark on Steam for a time? Can't find anything about that...
Edit 2: It was not...though it should be! =(

"I don't have your Alice and fuck you anyway!"
Yeah, Edward wins. The game's horrible, though (2008 one).

Dunno why you people say Alone in the Dark was not popular or even say it sucked.. There was nothing like it when it came out and it was pretty cool back then.

I was talking about the 2008 version, not the original. The original was well-received and ahead of its time.

It's because Alan Wake was made by Finnish people.

Because new AitD sucked and was mediocre game that couldn't live to it's legend (you know AitD was released in 1990s, right?).

But yeah, Alan Wake isn't that good name - Remedy likes to make stupid puns when it comes to names, I guess.
