Heh, I prefer just playing at my own pace instead of having a certain schedule but I might consider making a BLAEO account just to apply for this. Been interested in it since a few months ago when you planned on making it but resorted to just joining BLAEO instead :p Anyway, for now have a bump not like it's needed right now since it's at the top :v

I never meant that it was supposed to be an exact schedule, I edited the original post to better show what I meant. Just a general "a few Steamgifts games I've started playing / want to start playing soon" is enough. If you change your mind, just edit it, it's super-quick through BLAEO, everything is drag-and-drop, and adding a new game to a list is just a quick few characters in a search box, then drag the game to the place you want it in the list.

Yeah, forgot to update my post ;p But yeah, I'll be passing on the group for now. BLAEO just isn't my thing - as I said before, I like to play things at my own pace in whatever random order I feel like playing - the site would just make me consider completing certain games that I wouldn't exactly feel like playing at that time just for the sake of completion - not for fun :p

Sorry to hear that. Not trying to force you to join, but I would describe how I play games roughly similar to how you do it, the only exception being that I'm focusing on Steamgifts wins right now, but other than that, I also play whatever I want, whenever I want to, in a pretty random order. That's why I have a "current month" list on BLAEO with around 20 games, that are games I've either finished, started playing or considering playing the current month, and I change that around a lot :) I find it easier to sort things over on BLAEO than Steam, and if I come to think of a game I would like to play soon, I just add it there, so I'll remember it for later - and it's nice to be able to move everything around with drag-and-drop, and remove the things that don't fit the list anymore, and readd them in just a few seconds whenever you change your mind again.

Nice idea. I am not looking for more groups, plus I have one of the 18 wins I never finished (and probably never will, sadly, as it turned out to be not even remotely as good as it looked), but it would be nice if people played the games they won. ^__^

That was a grindfest. I usually don't go for boring achievements, but nice to hear that it's inspiring!

It is the first game I refuse to review and where I said "fuck the 100%", even though I think I may have gotten the clover touch one on second try? I gave up on Deadly Premonition as well, so it seems Swery65's food porn fetish and "write whatever comes to your mind" insane plotting is definitely not for me.

Really nice idea.
I would like to join (http://backlog-deepness.rhcloud.com/users/Spitfyr, http://backlog-deepness.rhcloud.com/lists/yde87vd) but I am afraid I do not match the first requirement.

Okay, well, I've been accepted by BLAEO, so I might as well put in an application for your group I guess.

A bump for you! It browse BLAEO around every now and then but I'm pretty sure I haven't unlocked the full potential of it.
I can't find myself to make a plan though, everything is spontaneous for me.
I don't actually know what my numbers are, so thank you for bringing it up for me to check. Interesting stuff.

The reason for having the attack plan as a requirement is to help people completely new to BLAEO to make a first list, and include some games won on Steamgifts there, as a way to encourage people to try to use it. Some are already members and have done both posts and lists over at BLAEO, but I decided to have some small activity requirements (sorting the games, making a list/"attack plan"), and those got to apply to all.
You would be great to have in the group, feel free to apply if you decide to make a list. If you're currently playing any games won on Steamgifts, and if you have 1-2 won games you're thinking of playing later, add those to a list, and you're done.

6 games completed. The other 3 of them made me disappointing, so I did not continue.

it was nice and quiet, and then you come along XD
Thanks, but I won like 5 games last month (my luck actually went from -3 to +1), and it doesn't look like I'll get to play anything for the rest of the year, so I'm not joining new groups for now (I should probably also stop joining GAs ... I'm not addicted, I swear!)

I'm nowhere near ready to apply to your group but I'm working on beating my wins, (both on SG, other places and friends gifts) as part as my current fight against the backlog and I love your concept so have a bump! Plus there's never enough BLAEO love going around :)

That's great, if we were to count all unplayed games won on Steamgifts, that would probably be a staggering amount (even if we limited it to unbundled AAA games), so every played game is a good thing :) I just hope people play some won games and enjoy it.

As I wrote to Tumalu, the list was an idea to get people new to BLAEO to try it out, hopefully liking the functions and becoming active members, instead of just joining for the sake of joining.
You have really gone beyond that, being one of the most active BLAEO members. You would of course be welcome in the group, your Soon™ list is enough since it contains a game won on Steamgifts :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, if it inspires people to play some games, that's good, it's exactly what I'm hoping people will do :)
I'm not opposed to having people with "bad" ratio in the group further on, I'm just hoping for some active members to start out with, and hope it will take off for real before expanding.

Don't know if you had the chance to play them yet, but with just two games won, the road to 50% completion is short, I almost envy you ;) Join BLAEO, finish at least one of those games (if you haven't already), put them in a list, and you're good to go :)

haha, I have played one of the two, but I have a huge backlog of games that I purchased that I really need some motivation to chip away at.

134 games never played (+28 that are under 1 hour) :( its too much for just one man!

Funnily enough I've started working a little more seriously towards tackling the backlog a few weeks ago, starting with stuff I've won here. Coincidence? I think... yeah, coincidence :/

Love the concept of the group, although as a few other people already pointed out I think I would like for those guideline requirements to be relaxed a little bit

I wouldn't mind a no-level-group either (I mentioned that in the original post, that the requirements might be lowered or removed further on), but I'm hoping the group will be an active group, where others do giveaways as well. I think chances are higher that it will happen if the group starts out with members who have done more giveaways than they have won, slowly gains more members as giveaways are created and then after a while starts expanding the members by decreasing the requirements.
As I mentioned, this is the first group I have ever created, and we'll see how it all works out.
Without a BLAEO account requirement, that "strict management" you mention would be hard work. It's easier for everyone to join, take a few minutes to sort their games, and then have everything synced, than for a moderator to have to check everything manually for each member.
I wouldn't say the group will have strict management, but I'll put together a few guidelines.

Thanks! You would make a good permanent member for the group. You fit all the requirements (except for the BLAEO ones), you should come aboard. That way I wouldn't have to add you each time you want to do a giveaway ;)
I have considered the possibility of non-members doing giveaways. I remember Charitable Losers having "guest gifters". It could probably be solved through invite-only giveaways.

I hope you do!
I know you hardly have a backlog, but that might be an inspiration for the rest of us, something to strive towards? :)
Also, we're having a screenshot scavenging hunt this month, might be something for you? Revisiting some already finished games, trying to find (and screenshot) all the objects listed in the different tiers?

I've often thought about the same idea for a group, but I'm not motivated enough to maintain a group :p I won't apply since my level isn't high enough (yet), but I'm a big fan of people actually playing their wins so I wanted to support your thread. At the very least I can proudly say I completed all of my SteamGifts wins ^^
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, I'm an achievement hunter and complete all my games with 100% achievements (except for Fallout 4 where the season pass is still too expensive, and King's Quest where I'm waiting for all the episodes to be released). It's ok I don't enter for many games anyway, perhaps sometime in the future when I reach level 5.

I like your idea, it's a win-win situation when you can encourage people to enjoy the games they've won and also give the GA creators a happier feeling when their gifts are being played. :) It's also a bonus if you're able to acquire new people to become an active part of BLAEO!
I won't apply for your group because I feel I'm very inactive here in SG, so I don't have enough to be a contributing member. I'm pretty sure you'll find a good number of people since there are many who support the same cause. :)

I really like the idea and hope it works out well. :) I bookmarked the thread in case I want to apply when I am more satisfied with my completion ratio and RCV. Until then thank you for caring about the community and giving us a good tool to fight our backlogs.
Edit: By the way do you already have a group name in mind?

Well, like others have stated I also though at one point creating such a group but did not due to being unmotivated. In this regard I support your effort and hope this will become something. And although I fulfill all requirements I am sure that I am a bad pick for most groups (in a special way for this one):
All in all my opinion in this matter is just to harsh. That wouldn't be good in the long run. And I prefer my "freedom". Still supporting the idea. The more people play their damn wins the better.

I got to leave the computer now, but I'll answer one thing from your comment, about a 50% limit:
I would love if there were a lot of Steamgifts members who had finished 50% or more of their won games. From what I've experienced, that's not common at all. Consider aurorable's event (linked at the beginning of the original post), which got only 12 entrants.
Some people play many of the games they win, some play a few less, but there seems to be a vast amount of users who have played none, or a very small amount of games they have won. My guess is that even with a low requirement as 10-20%, there won't be that many users who will/can apply, but still, those users are way more likely to end up actually playing the games they win, than the ones with 300+ wins and not a single gained achievement from any won game.
...and yes, I hope that this group will motivate everyone (group members or not) to play the games they win.
Comment has been collapsed.
I know. I am well aware that most users did not play much of their wins (also aware of aurorable's event since I was one of the 12 entrants). That is the reason why I consider myself a bad pick for this group and consider my opinion in this regard rather harsh.
Like I said I still support the idea and if it really helps to motivate more people then it is worth a lot already. Although the situation is still far away from where I, personally, wish it would be. I hope it works out and maybe I can do at one point something like a guest gifter.
It's just that a lot of games I giveaway are ones I really enjoyed (also if many of them are considered bundled although there exist nearly no bundle keys for them anymore). In this regard it is especially discomforting seeing people to just idle the cards or never touch the game.

Edit (4): We're discussing changing the entry requirements in the group right now. We haven't agreed on anything final yet, but for now, we're considering at least 30% finished games won on Steamgifts instead of the current 20%. There will also probably be different requirements for users with a low amount of wins. As soon as we have decided, this topic will be updated, until then, wait a bit with your application if you have finished less than 40% of your won games, and if you have finished less than 5 won games from Steamgifts. The new requirement will probably not be as high as 40%, but if you're at 40+% you should be well above any new limit.
Edit (3): The Dark Souls III giveaway in the group is now over, but there are still a few more giveaways running (and check how few entries the giveaways have, good chances of getting some nice new games to enjoy), including the currently third most wishlisted game on Steamgifts, hopefully they will act as some kind of incentive to join the group. Do you play the games you win, have over 20% of your won games finished, and meet the other requirements (Level 4+, 1.2 or higher sent to won real CV ratio)? Then you should join, the group could still need a few more members! Read the rest of the post on how to join.
Edit (2): This group could really need a few more members, so I'm lowering the entry requirements to Level 4, 1.2 sent:won real CV ratio, but I would also like to see 20% finished won games on Steamgifts instead of 10% before any new applications. So, a bit more relaxed SG-account related requirements, but a higher percentage of finished games.
I'm hoping to add 10 more members to the group.
Edit (1): The group is now live, and a few invites have been sent out. For those of you who haven't joined/applied, if it's any incentive to finally create that BLAEO account, you can check the group giveaway list, in case there's anything there you would enjoy playing.
I'll go through this thread and write some replies later this week.
Original text:
Most of the time (maybe 98% of my giveaways) I'm happy if the winner marks the game as received, and getting a "thank you" is always nice, but sometimes I really hope that certain games I give away will actually get played. These games I've mostly given away through my whitelist, and it's worked fairly well, but inspired by aurorable's "Win, Play, Win more", I've had the idea about a giveaway group with a similar concept. A group wouldn't be as excluding, and would also make it possible for others to easily do giveaways for the same group of people.
This is the first time I've ever made a group, and I don't know how much interest there would be, but I'm hoping for at least 20-30 members.
The plan is, leave this recruitment topic up, hopefully get at least 20 applications, and then get back to it in about a week from creating it, inviting applicants and doing some giveaways for the group. I have a few nice giveaways on their way, and I was planning on doing them for this group instead of my whitelist.
Requirements:
Since this is a group for people playing games won on Steamgifts, the main requirement is to have finished/played some of the games you have won. The more the better, of course. To make it easier for me/future admins of the group to check progress in games won on Steamgifts, a BLAEO membership is required (and yes, I've asked mandrill, BLAEO creator and got an OK for this requirement). It's a very good tool for keeping track of the progress in the games you have won here on Steamgifts, and also works as a support group for those of us with a backlog ;)
When you have a BLAEO account, after doing the initial sort-all-your-games (drag-and-drop, takes 1-3 seconds per game), I would encourage you to do a list/"attack plan" containing at least one game won on Steamgifts. It doesn't need to include all your unplayed wins, or be followed step-by-step, more as a general plan, perhaps just the next 10 games among your won games you want to play, and/or any games you are already currently playing. If you're in the mood for other games, just add them, takes just a few seconds through the BLAEO interface. If you've already been an active BLAEO member since August or earlier, you don't need to have a specific list.
The recruitment to this group won't close anytime soon, so if you still have too many unplayed won games, just start playing them, and note the progress over at BLAEO, and you'll be closer to being able to apply for the group.
As I mentioned earlier, I was hoping that this group would attract like-minded, who also think it's a nice thing to sometimes do giveaways for people who are more likely to actually play the games they win. To make it more likely that the group won't die after the first giveaways I'll do, there will be an initial real CV ratio requirement of 1.5:1, as well as a Level 5 minimum. These might be lowered and even removed in the future, depending on how many giveaways/entrants there will be in the group. Lots of giveaways and low amount of entries means the group could use more members, and the requirements would be lowered.
My plan is to not have any giveaway requirements in the group (only do giveaways when/if you feel like it), but I'll ask the future members for their opinion on this.
Step-by-step application process:
Have fun playing some games, and I hope to see some applications here! If everything goes well you can expect some invitations and giveaways in about a week.
There isn't a set limit for amount/percentage of finished/played games of the ones you've won, but I would like to see at least
10%20% finished games won from Steamgifts before you make an application. Over 50%? Impressive! Apply at once :)Comment has been collapsed.
