Will Steam be kind enough to provide me with the bonus?
It sucks that you couldn't get it, sorry man.
But personally, I think Amazon has the most wonderful customer service on the planet! Maybe sometimes you get a less knowledgeable staff member for technical issues, but you can just try again with a different person, which has done the trick for me in the past. And for refunding/exchanging damaged goods or even goods that you just didn't like very much, they are very gracious.

Steam support replied the day before that the pre-order bonus will not be included in purchase after the pre-order date.
I don't know why people expect companies to extend their deadlines for them, it's awful.
However, I'm very sorry you couldn't enjoy the steam controller. Personally, I love mine, but it was indeed frustrating for the first few days.

Sucks you couldn't get it, but expecting pre-order bonuses after something is released is a bit of a visit to imaginationland.
My experiences:
Steam support will never give such a freebie, especially since it's an expired offer, adds extra complications to them, I imagine.
I've mostly only gotten them to do something unusual for me when it was enabling me to buy the same thing again, or buy something else.
Amazon has great support usually, and will go out on a limb a lot for people. I think they were generous with you. But, I have found they stand really firm on things expiring. My experience was with their ever changing prices. An item can literally change price from one minute to the next. If you don't get it at that moment, they will only say sorry and read a script about how it is what it is.
I've recently had quite a series of experiences with Ubiworkshop recently. At the least, the one person whose name kept appearing on their emails to me was consistently surprisingly helpful.

The same price, 50 dollars. He just bought to make use of the free shipping.

take the emal that prove you was allow to get the pre purchase bonus and show them as a right to get it, if they told you that you was allow even after the sale, they let you get it as a bonus so you can get it, if they don't let them know that you will get a charge back and give them the reason that you didn't get the thing that you was suppose to get

Usually, when someone says "X support is bad" there are usually three reasons.
I believe that Amazon is mostly victim of case 2. There are clear examples of 1 and 3 in many places, but for the most part I think Amazon is pretty solid. I've never had a terrible case with them, and I've used their support probably 5ish times. There was one problem they didn't help with, but I didn't really care about getting it resolved since it didn't cost me anything. That was their arcane system's fault for some seller features that... well, I have two Amazon accounts now. One works.

Amazon customer service has always been speedy, wonderful, and most satisfactory to me.

Sucks that you were given false information but at least they provided with a compensation, admitting their mistake.
My only online experience of customer support was with EA's Origin. Like all companies, they've given their staff a script to follow to resolve the issues. It's more of a "the problem lies at your end" script. I have had contacted them multiple times, almost every time I felt that the support tried to dodge to provide any actual solution.
I have stopped using origins and don't know its current state, but about 3 years ago when Battlefield 3 came out, it had this problem where the whole download used to get corrupted in case internet connection got disrupted while a game was being downloaded.
I had a slow and unstable internet connection back then and I was having a really tough time to download Battlefield 3. One day I managed to get the game to download till 99% and bam! Internet connection lost. When the connection was established, it resumed from 10%. This left me furious and I contacted origin support. After explaining the issue to the guy, asking him of why the hell was such a huge chunk of data is lost after a failed connection, why am I losing so many GBs of data whereas I have never had such issues with platforms like Steam, and if there is any remedy for the problem. I was left even more furious with the one-liner reply that I received 2 days later.
"The problem seems to be with your ISP. Contact them for internet related issues." Ticket closed
Nevertheless, I found a solution online, which was that I should pause the download at intervals, take the backup of the game being downloaded, and resume the download. In case the connection is interrupted, replace the current folders with the backup and the download will resume with the same % which was at the time of the backup.
After battlefield 3, I never played anything using Origins ever again.

Best customer service: Amazon and EVGA by a long shot (for me, at least). Most of the time I dread calling CS about anything, but people at those two companies are always overly helpful and accommodating. Logitech CS gets an honorable mention -- they replaced a mouse that was over a year out of warranty and sent me a whole new set of speakers rather than have me send one bad one back (saving me a ton on shipping).
Worst customer service: definitely UPS (United Parcel Service), with ASUS a close second. If you've ever tried to file a claim for a lost package with UPS, you know what I mean. They've lost a couple packages of mine, including a rare older Opteron processor I was getting replaced. Asus for completely losing a motherboard of mine (despite DHL having proof of delivery and the person's name) and refusing a replacement after 3 months of going back and forth. Comcast Cable gets an honorable mention for never being able to tell me why my internet slows down at 2am, and taking almost a year to get me a replacement (upgraded modem). Best Buy too -- bought a sub-woofer around Xmas one year, failed within 2 months, they didn't want to replace the sub because of how little I paid for it, so they would only give me a refund (and expected me to pay full price for the replacement sub - and that's after I had paid $75 for their replacement plan).

I ordered a steam controller from Amazon on Black Friday(together with some other stuffs to make use of the free shipping) after given assurance twice I will be provided with the pre-bonus codes even after the last pre-order date. My items arrived a few days ago and I had yet to received the email so I emailed to them yesterday to check on it and today was sent an email to contact them through chat or phone. I enter chat with the amazon staffs and after several exchanges, was told that it was a miscommunication and was unable to provide me with the pre-order bonus. I was very disappointed about it as I was planning to play the games with my brother and I feel that the price was not worth it alone. Afterall I could have bought another xbox one controller at $40 during the black friday sales. There was nothing they could do and so I suggested and plan to return and refund the item but is put off by the return process. I thought about it and thought maybe steam could do something about it since they are the supplier of both the codes and controller so I sent them a ticket hoping that they could give me a satisfactory reply before taking the tedious process of sending the controller back to amazon.
Ended
Anyway I took it for a test run and it did not work on csgo(hang and crash steam) but it works well on grid 2. I find the buttons a bit too small and did not get used to the touch pad. Installing and connecting was easy as compared to the xbox one which failed to be recognised by my computer and thus could not automatic install the firmware.(had to manually download from unofficial sources after 1.5hrs of trying to find official sources)
Updated:
As expected, Steam support replied the day before that the pre-order bonus will not be included in purchase after the pre-order date.
Daunted by the process of sending back the item, I went back to amazon asking for gift card instead of sending it back for a refund and within a few hours, I got back an email from amazon with a satisfactory reply of kind words and credits to gift card balance.
I have heard lot of bad views on Amazon customer service on the internet but to me, after several support request to amazon, other than the pre-order bonus not fulfilled, they have been very helpful and quick in their replies even during busy period. So I was wondering how was your experience with customer services from any company and if they were great or bad? Which company has the best customer service/support?
