Rainbow 6 Siege Key issues

So my girlfriend brought me the game for Christmas, gave it to me today so I tried activating it through steam but it come up with "Invalid'. Tried it on Origin immediately after thinking it might work there but the effort was to no avail. Tried multiple times on both and still nothing. 16 digit code (XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX), before you go suggesting swapping 0's for o's and whatnot, the code doesn't have any 1's, L's, 0's, o's, y's, or w's. If you could see the code you'd know there's no way anyone could type it up wrong.

Also she brought it on the 19th (today is 24th), idk if that helps. Gonna call the store if nothing comes up here.
