Don't Starve, because it is probably the only survival game out there that is actually finished.

I would definitely vote for The Long Dark. Just an amazing game. But it's a solo, thoughtful experience, with no base-building. So it's not everyone's cup of tea.

Yea its just i like to store my stuff so storage is important for me

don't starve all the way. require some time to understand all the game mechanics, so you will spend some time reading the wikia and stuff. it's a great game tho

Finished, polished and cheap.
You won't find better to begin in the survival genre :)

The flood in the flame is cute, but alas, not polished at all, with lots of little annoying bugs. It's also in the end a very short game, with not a lot of appeal to play hundred of hours. This one was a disappointment for me.

The long dark is an amazing one (solo only), but it's not finished, even though it's fairly polished (yes, I never, never encountered a bug, also not that I never play right after a new update and always wait for a few patch before ;p). Hightly recommanded.

Another survival that I love love love is: Project Zomboid.
It's not a finished game (early access), it's not polished at all (bugs and UI is atrocious) and looks like a sims game from the 90'.
I'm sure I just sold the game to you with that description ;D

My first game, I played with my husband in co-op.
We got submerged by a horde of zombies and got stuck on the 2nd floor of a house. Zombies where breaking into the house, we didn't know how to survive this. Zombies began to scratch on the door of the room we were in, we decided to take a leap of faith... we undressed.
And made a rope from our clothes to get out from the windows as safely as you can we hundreds of zombies are waiting outside.
I jumped first, and tried to make noise to attract zombies to me so my husband could get out safely as zombies were drown from where I jumped. Alas, I didn't attract enough of them and my husband got killed as he landed on the floor :[

Damn that was a hell of a game.
I have 415hours of gameplay on it, and each hour was just great. I have lots of stories on how I or my friends died during the apocalypse ;p
But this one was my first story (I didn't died right away, but you know I felt guilty for surviving and not him :p).

If you give it a try I suggest you to play it with at least a friend, because alone, at first, the game can be brutal. The UI is not very clear on what you can and can't do (you can do a lot to be honest, and the game doesn't really tell you this... Maybe the tutorial is better now).

t Minecraft with the right mods is a great survival game. Then theirs The forest, Unturned, subnatica is looking promising, and Stranded deep is all i can think of off the top of my head.

Maybe Terraria, Starbound, RUST, Survivalist, Dead Island :)

Idk is it survival game or not, Dying Light.

The Long Dark (Has real good survival elements. You're alone here. Best one in genre. Pure. imo. )
