How many U.S. Marines or any other service members (any country) are there on this site - active, retired, or otherwise...

Myself - active duty USMC from 88~92 and reserves after that until 96 - yeah, sort of getting up there in age, but I still get my game on!

I'd love to say have a blast or something like that, but honestly everyone gets something different out of the experience with one exception - everyone feels the sense of camaraderie, more so after you're out or retired; it isn't something I can explain to you easily, you'll simply know later on.

Well I come from a military family, so I've gotten plenty of advice from many different people. My dad, grandfather, brother, and 3 uncles, all served in the military. All but my dad went airforce, my dad was navy. So naturally I picked army haha

Similar story here - both grandfathers and my dad were Army and I went Marine Corps, then two of my half-brothers did the same - dad was not happy lol

Just 1 year of service in the Greek Army (3 years ago), and currently a civilian. It was an interesting experience :)

Well if I won't leave Israel by next summer, I am looking at 3 years of mandatory army service. Trying to immigrate to Canada, if not then will probably serve as an engineer in the Air Force.

Hey neighbor unfortunately we're living in a hot zone, indeed 3 years of mandatory service is way too much, but serving as an engineer for the Israeli Air Force (one of the best worldwide) sounds interesting.

Indeed. I might also get accepted a lot easier to jobs if I have the army as a 'job' reference. Or go to college in Canada and study mechanical engineering there.

I sort of wish the U.S. had mandatory military service, would teach the young snot noses a thing or two about responsibility, dedication, and a huge dose of humility. I have a friend from Sweden that swears by it, but of course they stopped doing that a couple of years ago. I'll admit however that with the prospect of actual combat being involved, it doesn't seem like a compelling motivator to teach younger generations to respect what they have...

Infantry.

Here we use G3's and ride the M113's. In the regular army, of course.
