New here, i may have (or not) a giveaway to make, depending on what you will answer me, because i don't understand something.

Two days ago, a friend of mine gifted me don't starve together, i received it, installed it, an launched it.Steam told me two key that i should put ingame (why two ? mystery), but the game worked perfectly without the need to enter a (or two) key.

Then i registered here and went to my inventory, and i have a don't starve together gift in it, and i don't know why.Apparently i can't giveaway it until december 4th.Is that a bug ? or if i gift it i will not be able to play it anymore ? I'm confused.

And sorry if i'm in the wrong section.

When you added Dont Starve Together to your library you probably got an extra copy of it. If you have the game in your inventory you can give it away here yes. It's not a bug but every new game you get (bought from Steam, got trough trading) is not tradable for a certain amount of time.

edit: You can still give it away before that date but you have to send it by email to the winner.

not tradable but giftable then, ok i'll put it here then, thanks for the answer, even if i don't understand why i got an extra copy while it was already a gift sent from my friend (i didn't ask him if he sent me HIS extra copy or bought it for me, maybe it's the explanation).

From the Steam store: Buy Don't Starve Together
Includes an extra copy of Don't Starve Together. Send it to a friend!

You can gift a game before the one month is over by going in your inventory, clicking on the game, and selecting to gift it from there :)

And what likely happened-
If you ordered Don't Starve before a certain point, you got DST added to your account free later on.
He may have already owned DST, and just wanted to buy a copy for you so you could play with him.
The 2-pack is just $5 more than the 1-pack of DST, so maybe he thought that was a better option?
Especially if he'd forgotten he already owned DST.
I'd personally run it by him first, make sure he didn't want to keep the copy.
But other'n that, yeah, it's totally fine to gift here :)

(And it's a fun game, so I'm sure someone'll be very appreciative of it! :D)

Well, there's really only one explanation that comes to mind (other'n bug or, what seems most likely, that he just bought the 2-pack on accident), then:
If you owned Don't Starve OR bought DST early, you got a bonus copy of DST- so what if your friend had bought DST early, stuck it in their inventory instead of library?
Perhaps it still counts as an early purchase?
But I thought the promotion required it to be in your library by the time it expired to get the bonus copy, so.. I.. don't know.

Well, don't look a gift horse in the mouth!
Especially if you're starving. Gotta eat that horse before it eats you =O

Or a really favorable bug from something they forgot to remove from the earlier promo. :D
