Have you ever tried making a game?
I use Unreal Engine 4. You may think it is complicated but it is easier and a lot faster than any other available engine imho. GameMaker Studio and Unity are extremely clunky. After using UE4 for a few weeks I can honestly say it is the best engine to learn with a huge developer support team providing the most easy to understand tutorials.
Its free to use and if you like to create 2D games it is super easy using Paper2D. Here is an example of some dude throwing together a Braid type game.
I ain't been using it for some time been busy learning Mudbox and 3ds Max but yeah it is an awesome engine I highly recommend.

Every child makes games, Just last weekend i was watching my grandson, and he found two old metal hooks (example of the hooks shown below) They reminded him of stories he heard about pirates. I proceeded to tell him an old pirate joke (also below) This inspired him to create a game similar to tug of war where each person holds one hook, and the outer tries to disarm you by hooking your hook and pulling it from your grasp.
Now if you want to limit it to computer games, I don't know if my grandson had created anything there yet, but give him time he is only three
A man run into a salty pirate who have an eye patch, a peg leg and a hook, He asks the pirate what happened, the pirate tells him how he lost his leg to a shark, fighting it off , then hoe he lost his hand during a mutiny, the man is impressed asks the pirate how he lost the eye, annoyed the pirate says, it was a fly. confused the man inquires further, the pirate says well it was the first day I had my hook...

I used unreal engine 4, as i think it's the best engine. I started to create a game, but then i stopped, don't really know why, but I think, because I am lazy and it would take long time, so i just threw my hands down and stopped. I used ue4 Blueprints Visual Scripting, as i don't really know programming(just basics) and it's really easy to make a game with blueprints. I hope to start to make games again, when i get lucky with betting(csgolounge), as I kinda have potential. But I think I stopped, because i am not creative and not really that smart on making the game, as i have to constantly look up things again...I have covered almost all tutorials(stopped 3 months ago, so maybe they have made more). And I have hard time moddling objects/characters.
Basicly learned stuff, that i don't really need.... But hope I will start again.

I'm the kind that always says "i will make a game", but never do...

I've made a few stuff with Gamemaker but never completed anything. Now I'm working with Clickteam Fusion and I really like it, I might submit something for the Indie Game Making Contest, not expecting to win but to learn more about the software.

Making a video game is one of my dreams and something I really hope to do someday, when I have the time, money, and the right idea. And if I ever do it, I want it to be a good one, not one of those crap games that somehow made Greenlight and are only ever used as bundle fillers. I have never tried, but when the time is right I will make the best damn video game the world has ever seen :D

I remember trying out RPG Maker 2003 back when I was a brat, but never managed to complete anything. Except for always planning some storylines and gameplay basics in my head I haven't anything since then.
I only have a concept in mind for an RPG with an story I think that hasn't been done before but I don't know for sure, but I will most likely just keep it in my memory until I forget.

I made one for last year's IGMC with RPG Maker and plan on doing one with Game Maker this year. I'm not good with the art, though, so it's not too pretty...

I tried once. It was a very basic rogue like in Game Maker. I didnt finished because I didnt understand how to properly use the program.
Atm Im thinking on making a text adventure in my free time but I dont know what engine I could use without any knowledge about programming

When I was much younger (back in elementary/high school=) I tried to make a couple little games. I started in Game Maker and made a crappy shmup (only good part was two player co-op) and a few other failed experiments, then I tried something in RPG Maker. I mostly gave up because I have zero art skills. I wouldn't mind making a game, but I'm pretty bad at both code and art, so I'd have to do writing for a larger project or give up. -_-

Didn't tried yet, but I might give it a shot sometimes.
Hope it's not too hard to learn.

Tbh, i never tried to create a game.
However, as i am terrible at painting, i used various lever editors in order to create a map which would allow me to make a better plot for my novel ( epic fantasy genre ). It actually helped a lot the 1st book will be ready in a couple of months but before i even talk to a publisher, i have to write the second part :D
Thank you very much for the great giveaways but i won't be entering them as i am not planning to use the programs anytime soon.

Just because you can't do a game doesn't mean the software is bad. Gunpoint was made on GM and it's pretty cool, and I think Cook, Serve, Delicious! and Dustforce were also made with GM.

I started using RPG Maker XP and loved it. Now I have VX Ace but it has less map layers and I don't know how to make animated maps yet. Btw I would buy the current HB since I love to try these things, but don't have the money to, but thanks to TG I managed to get Sprite Lamp, Game Character Hub and Spriter Pro. Now I wanna see if the Luna Engine thing is worth it. Also AGF is a decent program, would love to try the drone, rpg and voxel dlcs.

i tried to make many games, but mostly focussed on programming, some are simple tech demos and some have basic mechanics, i woulndt call any of them games, tbh. =P

I started one in RPG maker, i was just 2 screens then i realized, dude, you dont like RPG's......
I do have an idea for a very specific game but i lack the knowledge, the ability to generate artwork, and much worse, the time to acquire those previous mentioned. I dont even play the games i have :S.

I've just started messing around in Unity to build a prototype clicker game (hopefully with some VN style dialogue on the side to give it a little extra something), approaching it from a programming angle though, I can't do arts ;-;
also I'm just starting to code a little 'game' for my steam chat bot, it will be a sort of text adventure / puzzle (in the vein of SG puzzles) for the next big event in my one steam group, I have about a third of the dialogue/puzzles written out, just need to code it up, finish the puzzles/dialogue, and create a few additional resources for it, very basic game but easy to make :p

So, with all the tools in the humble bundle for game creation atm, it makes me wonder just how many gamers have ever tried to make their own game. There's a lot of steam software out there that makes the process simple even without any programming knowledge, so I would think most people have at least tried some time or another? What did you manage to do?
Personally, I started playing with making games in RPG Maker, which is super easy, and there's a lot of tutorials/open source scripts you can use to add more complicated things. As a drag and drop, it's a really nice game engine, and you can make something playable almost instantly, though it does suffer from most games looking very very similar to each other (I've attached a gif of a map I made, I bet everyone has seen 459053405834 games with a similar style).
More recently, I've been playing around with GameMaker Studio and Unity, and I'm currently messing around with creating a platformer in GameMaker Studio, though I also made a basic engine for generating random 2d terrain with caves and stuff (like simplified terraria). I'm ignoring pretty much all the built in stuff though and coding it all, since it seems to be a lot more powerful. GameMaker has a reputation as being an 'easy' engine, but games like Hotline Miami were created with it, and I've found it to be a lot of fun to work with. Since I want to focus on 2D graphics (I'm fairly decent at spriting) Unity is overly complicated for what I need right now. Although I really love how this guy has managed to make a terraria-like engine that works so nicely in Unity.
bonus giveaways: 1 and 2
