So in case you don't know Valve has altered the refund policy a little bit http://store.steampowered.com/steam_refunds/
It used to be refunded within 6 months but now you have to refund it within 2 weeks (14 days), I haven't found other change(s) though.

This policy somehow helps dev(s) since less people would eligible for a refund, at last just like my case
I tried to refund how to survive since it is cheaper than when I bought it due to the sales. And noticed this new policy. I intended to grab the 3rd version as well anyway, so it is supposed to be an extra discount for that game.

Shame on me since I bought a steam gift copy before it's being confirmed.
But yeah, it is not like I would complain for a mere 50 cents especially for a good game.

TL:DR
Since they limited the purchase period, it is advised to be more careful before buying anything since you can't rely on refund as much as before, try to check the game within 2 weeks.

So I could've refunded the extra copy for duplicate or accident purchase, but lucky you people of the SEA I am giving away a South East Asia region locked storm warning edtion steam gift on http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/vFW3g/how-to-survive-storm-warning-edition
so good luck!

Note: it seems I am mistaken, they said, well I got a refund for more than 2 weeks after purchase before http://prntscr.com/7h05i9 ,
a little explanation by http://www.steamgifts.com/user/SlyCooperFan1 http://prntscr.com/7h09hg
. so meh just enjoy the GA and good luck.

Another footnote: I'm surprised people just keep picking "is it even a question?" ಠ益ಠ,
you guys hurt my feeling (*థ౪థ)

but just so you know, I am not the one who chose "exactly" (‘ω‘ )
So thank you the mystery voter :3

yes they refunded to some ppl who bought game even last winter sale, but that was just because they did not check or they just liked to do that, so you were lucky, so anyways 6 months is even illogical.

know that, yeah dev hurts too much from this, so I support the 2 weeks or 1 month at most.

I guess companies can even refuse to give Valve money back for things bought months ago, so maybe just because of this actions of refunding games that were bought more than 2 weeks ago Valve lost money.

it was 14 days from day one, its just they are refunding a bit (much?) older purchases atm, most likely because refunds were non existant prior to this change :P

im sure it will go down to 14 days in a few weeks/months though (:

You can ask refunds for older (6 months initially, but now no limit even purchases from 2008 is ok to ask), but it's case-by-case.

I tried to refund it too since the 95% discount is half of the 90% and bought 9 copies of it, but the help page on Steam says that the refund request is unavailable since the purchase is pending. Not sure how that works since they were directly bought from my Steam Wallet. That 5% would've gone to other games/giveaways.

It is a Mr, :D

lol, at day one I read the rule it was 2 weeks, since I just tried the feature and my friend said it is 6 months, I forgot the fact the rule is 2 weeks, and believed into the fact since I refunded more than 2 weeks games, since I didn't reread the rule.

My mind is playing trick with me lol.

People are idiots, and don't read. I'm highly surprised by the controversy over the six-month rule that people aren't understanding at all. Here's the breakdown, and it's been like this since Day 1:

  • If you purchased a game less than 14 days ago, and played it less than 2 hours, Steam will refund it for whatever reason.
  • If you purchased a game up to six months ago, and played it less than 2 hours, Steam will potentially refund it depending on the circumstance.
  • If you purchased a game over six months ago, you cannot request a refund.

I don't see them changing anything about this.

EDIT: For the record, both me and a friend of mine successfully got a refund for games we purchased in February (two different games, two different prices, etc.).

oh kay, this explains a lot. will put it on the thread.
thank.

at day one I read the rule it was 2 weeks, since I just tried the feature and my friend said it is 6 months, I forgot the fact the rule is 2 weeks, and believed into the fact since I didn't reread the rule, and yeah I tried and it seems true.

But since I thought some people don't know about this I decided to make this thread.
Yeah a mistake is a mistake.

I think the 6 month rule applies to games bought before refunds were added, but otherwise, it's 14 days.
I got a game refunded that I bought in April.

It's no-questions-asked for 14 days, but they'll investigate for any game you request a refund for within the past six months. They don't offer refunds beyond that.
