Good afternoon (?) people!
I don't really make posts on the forum, but I was thinking about something that I would like your opinions on :D

Atm I must have 500 + - games on steam, at the begigning I just cared about getting more games (even if trash ones) to increase that number, but today I'm realizing that this games just pollute my library and makes it harder to find the good games (at least for the people that I share the library with) so I was thinking about asking the support to remove a lot of my trash games, more or less 100

What are your thoughts about it? Not about what I should do, but about the "delete/not delete bad games"?
Thank you :3

EDIT: Guys, I know that I can hide them from my library (they are hidden now), I'm mostly thinking about people that I share the library with, you know? It's a lot of garbage to go trought (in order to find good games) that don't really have a good reason to be in there :P

Do you let those types of games on your library or do you delete them? (you can talk more about it on the comments)

Yeah, it helps me increase my owned games number
Nah, I don't really care for the owned games number

About a year ago I deleted about 200 trash games from my account. It was like a breath of fresh air. Yes you can hide them, but they still show up on your account and you know they are there. I say go for it. If you are never going to play them then you have them just to take up space.

I had a lot of people also say it was an idiotic choice but I was definitely more organized and happy after it!

btw if you make a mistake or regret deleting them you can actually ask support for your games back the same way you deleted them. It's not permanent

I'm thinking that way too, I think it'll be a really good feeling to get rid of those games for good, thank you!

You can just hide them, not delete.
You won't see them, even no category should be created.
Just hide

With as many games as I have, I've found it much easier to just make categories for the games I want to play, rather than the games I don't.

To put it in perspective; If you were to play one new game a day, every day, 365 days a year, it would take you over 22 years to go through your entire library.

Unless you're a scientist whose discovered the secrets to eternal life, it might be time to stop buying so many games :p

It's clearly IGN's fault.

I've recently deleted almost a third of my library (yes, I used to be a terrible hoarder), and it looks so much better now. It does feel good indeed. So yeah, basically, go for it.

And you don't really need to ask the support to delete anything, it's a matter of 3 clicks actually: set View to "Games Details" in your Steam client, click "Support" on the right side of the window, "I want to permanently remove this game from my account", confirm.

Yeah, I've decided to really do it, I think it'll be better that way, thanks!
Btw, do you know if it takes time for the game to be deleted or if it's instant? I just asked for the removal of 3 games (using that method that you talked about) and even with the "this game has been removed from your library", they are still in there (?)

They are not really there. It happens instantly, but you have to restart the client to see changes.

I'm avoidning most of trashy games but have some. Still I have under 1k games which is imo managable so I'm not removing any games.

I recommend deleting them. At first when I started building the Steam library, like many, just want to have every game or most of it. That is no longer possible with the amount bad games. Journey To The Center Of The Earth was my 1st deleted game it is also a game I wanted to give it a try. The controls are so bad, I could not tolerate it. Its just a very bad version of The Cave

I am lucky enough to realize that and start deleting games that I would not play even before my idea was to give them a try or are either removed from Steam. There is too many games out there nowadays, certainly there are more games that deserves more attention. Even at this point I am thinking about removing more games.

The Steam library is a representation of me, the type of games I play or will recommend to others. Certainly if you are sharing the library with family members then its an even better Idea to remove games you will not touch.

Cheers,Cruse~

Well if you share your library with somebody else I can see why deleting the trash games might be a good thing, but as far as my case goes I simply don't see the point right now. I have categories for a reason after all.
