Also because press was thinking if this was a real act or just a joke, but if you look at the last 20 years, how many weren't either?
I mean take Ireland f.e this year. Bookies aren't alyways right though, i don't believe they thought Duncan Lawrence would win either.
And these days any kid with a phone can vote and totally throw off the end results and it's been proven in the past televotes can be bought off.
Comment has been collapsed.
Any kid can vote.
However how many even know the song festival is being held let alone stand bother to vote for it?
Only reason I knew about the song is that I heard it on the radio.
And saw an article.
Which the majority of the youth wont see since they are only on socials.
No clue what his reach is on socials, since I am not on socials to be frank.

I mean, it's hard for him to win with that song having Croatia there with Baby Lasagna (and knowing what happened with Käärijä last year) and being a more focused people vote song than a jury one. Also he's part of Semi 2, which haven't happened yet. I'll be happy if he gets top 3 knowing how the jury is, but I'm happy each year there are less balads and more songs and artist with charisma and not afraid to use their mother tongue in their songs. Greece, Armenia, Estonia, Norway and many others have brought really good songs this year, and part of that is because of the language and use of their folklore (and I hope the next years are like that).
Anyway, hyped for Joost's show tomorrow, let's see how it's received ^^
Comment has been collapsed.
Never cared very much about it and when most of them went English I cared even less.
The only charm it had to me was that people where singing in their own language.
If the song is really good it doesn't matter what language it is.
Just look at all the Spanish/ French other language songs that storm the top 10 charts.
People are jamming along and have no clue about what is being sung...

Kroatia is a good chance, i think we will reach the top 5 atleast, maybe 3.
That voila was also a good song a few years ago, although we can do it good too. :p https://youtu.be/KdIhq1tb8Co?t=115

Is it my idea or do I see some similarities with the movie New Kids Turbo?

https://youtu.be/gT2wY0DjYGo?t=137 He is from New Kids Turbo, i believe in the car that's paul elstak.
Now the same actor is also in this: https://youtu.be/KWJEM5Vcxmk?t=114
Joost Klein put in so many tiny details, he is very creative in that way, although he promised us a surprise that would wow everyone, but the second rehearsal has been without, if he would change anything now then he would be disqualified, but he would be the person to do it.
The series used the "gabber" / rave music, those bald people, the special dance it was a thing in the nineties, but now everyone is doing it again on tiktok.

Thanks, not like i am a big fan of the whole contest, normally i watch the end results (we also usually send in people that don't make it past the half finals). But this one is really being hyped in the country and on social media, it's certainly interesting this year for a change.
We are also known to have famous dj's (tiesto, hardwell) and people are like why not send one of them? But somehow that choice hasn't been made yet, but i think we gonna join the wacky way from now on, last year atleast for us was a disaster with 2 people that couldn't sing. But it's also just a bunch of politics in the end (i give you points if you give them to us).
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm like you about this contest. Personally, I'm looking for new good songs, which every year become fewer and fewer... pffffff
I know your DJs, but I don't know if they are suitable for this contest. I might be wrong, but I mean, they don't sing themselves. And I don't think they need promotion through this specific competition.
Comment has been collapsed.
You are better off with a random song on youtube or spotify. :p Youtube used to have a "disco" version or something that if you liked one certain song it tried to find similar ones, but i don't think it exists anymore.
They don't sing themselves (except Scooter if you can call that singing, more yellng), but any singer can sing out for another country like celine dion, and f:e https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BR_DFMUzX4E&ab_channel=ArmadaMusicTV I don't see why that couldn't be a good entry example for the contest. But to each their own, unless you mean Armin should sing somehow, yeah okay.
That the contest is only about the song itself, we are already past that years ago, how many of the weird acts didn't win? Only the last few years the singing part came back a little and the more extravagant acts have lowered (luckily).
They used to have an instrumental orchestra from the Netherlands playing for every country but got removed many years ago (because they wouldn't even be used anymore by so many countries).
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm not an expert. I can't recall a song without a lyric, and in the case of this song, why would Armin be the main name and not Trevor? And that's why I think DJs are not suitable for this competition. This is my humble opinion, I may be wrong. 🙃
Good luck! :)

It's called song contest, i don't think it's ever stipulated how it should be created, a song is still a song, because when it started x years ago dj's didn't exist, and these crazy acts didn't exist then it was all about good singing, why shouldn't that change as so many other things?
Celine Dion came out for france i believe (because as a canadian she can't sing for that country) but also last year a dutch girl with greek roots, was singing for greece, there are no rules there.
I don't know what country this trevor is from, if he is from america that even gives a whole new thing to it, but like australia why are they allowed when they aren't even european? Same goes for the EUROjackpot lottery.
Thanks. :)

I dom't know the song but it can't be ever as bad as this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdA2SsM3BLI&ab_channel=EurovisionSongContest
Also last year they were 2 very bad singers Mia and Dion.

no man, this one at least someone is having fun. Ours were generic as fuck sung by girls who weren't ready to sing for Eurovision
Comment has been collapsed.
Blanka's live singing wasn't the best (and so was a source of many memes), but I think Luna did great (much more deserving of the Finals than Blanka), and I unironically really like both songs. It is true, they don't stand out that much and are somewhat generic, but they are still fun, upbeat, somewhat catchy songs.
Comment has been collapsed.
It might be a bit cringe in Eurovision, but it's still a fun song that makes me smile. But the song is more suited for a traditional pub night, where a live band is playing accordion and people are dancing and drinking, than for the big Eurovision stage.

I don't really like Eurovision song festival because I already know what will happen.
Jury will give 69 points and the people will give it 400 points.
Like this guy on AGT

Which one were you rooting for? Witch-er?
Also, very surpised at so many people liking Estonia's entry.

Yes, even though I don't like Witch-er, I think it could look really cool as a performance.
But my heart will always be with Pan Savyan...
Pan Savyan

True, we could have had two mystical witch performances (or three if Raiven counts).
Wow, Pan Savyan is great, and it's so nostalgic, despite being a new song! That might have been a better choice.

It is definitely good to know that guide as many puzzles here often use methods from that. But weirdly enough, I don't see the exact method of this "puzzle" in Zelgh's guide. And looking at Zelgh's guide for this "puzzle" will lead to heay overthinking, when the "puzzle" here is much simpler than that.
But I do remember when I first joined the site and this exact type of puzzle was something I couldn't figure out for many weeks. I was overthinking it so much, and trying the most convoluted solutions. It was only much later, when I better understood how the site worked and had managed to solve much more difficult "puzzles", that I came back to this type and could finally do it.

I really liked your entry. I'm so sorry about the disqualification and all the drama.
Comment has been collapsed.
Thank you, i had a feeling he would be aiming towards a disqualification, but more like he would change his act last minute (also ground for disqualification) since he always claimed to have a surprise in the end.
Many people that are near the songfestival like the commentators are saying it's a storm in a glass of water what happened.
Comment has been collapsed.
It's a real shame, it was one of my favorites :(
I couldn't find any info about the "incident", I hope it will be something important and not something trivial about politics, because a disqualification in the final is a first in the history of Eurovision, it seems to me.
Comment has been collapsed.
They been very quiet about it, all that is known the supposedly threatened a female worker verbally, but others complain how the israelian team threatened others, so countries are seeing the controversy while the ebu supposedly have this zero tolerance policy.
At one moment the flag was put back on a dressing room door, giving hope we could still participate, 1 person from a country was withdrawing to give points, we can't even choose to say we don't gonna air it tonight or not give points they forcing us.
This song and his message was about union (and his dream to his parents to have joined the eurovision then for it to be taken away) and then they are doing this.

The most concrete rumor I see is from the Sweden subreddit, where this happened: Joost had an altercation with a female camerawoman at SVT, where she supposedly had walked wrong and collided with him several times during a tech rehearsal. Eventually he bumped into her and then yelled at her and threatened her. She didn't fall over but stumbled. Something that he felt she had ruined his performance.
Though, don't take what I say TOO seriously, as this is from a person who heard from another person etc. and then I translated it from Swedish to English.
Comment has been collapsed.
Our tv department broadcasting this (our public television in divided in a whole bunch coming from the early days of tv each with their own religious or political view, many got merged together a few years ago) even they stand behind Joost, if Joost would have done something absolutely wrong they would have let it know and not stand behind him.
The police questioned both parties, there were no physical threats, but he has to stay in Sweden for the justice department to make a decision.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, if this is true it is just an unfortunate mix of accidents, stress and unstable nerves that led to this. I get the "it's not that bad" angle from Netherlands TV if this is what happened but also, I think the artist threatening an SVT employee is a pretty fair argument for disqualification in any case. Not an unforgivable crime, but probably one that makes you unfit to continue competing. It is just not possible for us to know how bad this is at the moment and I don't really want to assume things.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah Joost isn't the most stable of persons, he certainly can be described as wacky and something must have triggered him, and if it's verbally i don't think that was any justified reasons for him to be disqualified, even more so he is already been trialed as guilty while normally you would be innocent until proven guilty.
Let him perfom but also let him stand trial afterwards, that would have created the least uproar.
What they could have done was to exclude us next year then waiting the results.

Hm, yeah that's also a very stressful event that would lead to an incident like this. If it happened like it says then it would absolutely be too harsh of a punishment. I guess the incident would have been filmed in that case? Then all the evidence would be in the open, so they must have a very reasonable explanation for the disqualification (that they should provide, because now we have nothing but rumors).
For me, I think it boils down to: Did this incident make him out to be unsafe to be around for the people working at Eurovision?
Because then I would understand. I would not like to work with someone who threatens or yells at me or my colleagues.
Comment has been collapsed.
Let's also not forget they are not just going to sing a song twice, they are constantly having to attend press moments, repetitions etc etc, but also the israelian group assumingly threatening people about their view on the war and how them contesting could also jeopardize the other contestants (why he interupted the press moment when israel was asked about it and they didn't want to answer it and he said, why not?). So yeah the pressure is high on these people.
Anyway it's all done now and too late, if he would even be allowed back i wouldn't even want to if i were him.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yep. Personally I could never go through participating in ESC, especially not this year. Right now I can't blame anyone (except the EBU).
Returning at this point would be very hard. I'm just glad he got to perform Thursday at least, as Eurovision is so important for him.
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't know what it's like in Sweden, but in the US, the biggest problem for Joost would be that the camerawoman went to the police about the incident instead of reporting it internally (not that she shouldn't have reported it to the police). It says in multiple articles that she went to the police so an investigation was opened. If it was just an internal complaint, the EBU could probably sweep it under the rug until later, but since a report was opened, it becomes very official and potentially a crime. I don't understand EU laws or Swedish criminal/civil procedure but that's just my guess as to why they felt they had to kick him out.
Comment has been collapsed.
I may be Swedish but I don't know the finer details of the law enough to know things like this. I think in some cases generally in Swedish society, making an internal report may also require you to report it to the police if you believe a crime has occurred. Otherwise it is baseless. My gut feeling tells me that she didn't go to the police before raising the issue within the Eurovision production, rather that it actually needed to be reported to the police.
Comment has been collapsed.
Got it. I wasn't sure as the US only requires serious injuries/illness and/or death to the police and otherwise the person typically has to go to the police to make a report. So I wasn't sure if this was a case where she went to them or they came to her. It'll be interesting if anything else comes out about it as there seems to be a lot of rumors flying around.
Comment has been collapsed.
I can't really find anything about this right now, the competition rightly takes the spotlight. But it'll be interesting to follow what happens now. For now I am just relieved that this is over (for a Swede this has been constant drama for a year now).

It was on a dutch news site (so it would have been dutch anyway) now it got replaced that switzerland won and that we were second in the half finals.

This is supposedly coming from a statement made by one of our broadcasting companies.

Bump, and also sorry to hear about the DQ. Europapa was one of the most fun and also heartwarming performances, it's a real shame that so much controversy is taking over Eurovision. It's supposed to be about celebrating our differences, cultures, and music and all coming together, and it seems unfortunately this year is anything but that. :(

Sup Lugum, I have not really watched Eurovision for years
I think I did watch when Russia sent that absolute joke Pugacheva's husband or something, that was hilarious
They mistook someone having connections for having talent lol
But yeah, not been watching that for ages

Normally i only watch the end results (if we even managed to get to the finals) but this year we made it different and so hyped, it almost made you going to watch, atleast the end results, but offcourse not now, we shouldn't even air it, but they force us.

A lot of drama this year over a side issue. We are good at getting distracted from real problems, that's just human nature

At the end of the day
We are all human beings
My father told me once that
The world has no borders
I miss you every day
Is what I whisper to myself
You see, dаd
I did liѕten to you.
This is uhm, our Eurovision song, normally we kept trying to send out actual singers often with not much success, but this time they decided to join the wacky songs, but somehow it has something catchy. The singer's parents died when he was 10 year old, and he will explain that at the end of the song that it is for them.
