What?
kinda sad its not available in my region (nz) and never will be. valves weighed up the profits to be had and decided that lumping us in with australia (which theyve always been keen to do in the past) wont be profitable enough for them to ever ship their hardware down here. Which is odd, because they seem to think we're rolling in money given how high our games are priced...

Anything less than 802.11ac and you won't have a good time. If you want to use it for games where the images change very rapidly (like racing games with the world rushing by) you will want to be close to the router as well, or on ethernet, for acceptable results.

Don't buy it if Wifi is your only option of connecting it. Most likely it won't work.
If you have 802.11ac and a perfect connection, as in the router is next to the Link and you live out in the woods with no neighbors... then maybe it would be a good experience on Wifi. For most of us though, that's not the case and a wired connection is the way to go. If you don't have network cables already in place, maybe a powerline adapter could be a solution.
Even Vavle states on the store page "A wired network connection is strongly recommended" and it's with good reason.

i am a simple man, i see Argentina and i comment...
Ojala pudiera comprar el steam link desde argentina directo a steam aunque fuera al precio regular pero no, no hay steam hardware para peronia por ahora y por mucho tiempo mas. Hay que morir en choreolibre o "importadores" de dudosa reputación...

Nice concept and very tempting, but I already have attached my gaming PC to my 50" TV and have the ability to play my games from my couch with my Xbox 360 controller via a wireless receiver using Big Picture Mode, so I don't know what other benefits this gives me.
Unlike with the steam link, I can play games not on steam on my TV without having to add to my steam library as my setup is independent of the steam link. Not every non-Steam game works smoothly when added into Steam.
I also barely notice any noticeable lag with my setup since my PC has an attached wired ethernet link as well as an HDMI cable attached to my TV. I read that the steam link might have more of a lag especially with a wireless link.
I can also continue doing other stuff on my PC while gaming or shift from gaming to watching TV or movies on my blu ray player just by using my TV remote to shift to a different input all from the comfort of my couch.

Ahhhh... so the tv it is hooked to is just monitor... the tv itself doesn't need to be on network... the steam link hooks into router or wirelessly to router...
I can't wait to play with it! I'll let you know if I have questions/issues when I'm setting it up in a few days.

EDIT: It seems that this is NOT actually a price error - just the cheapest a Steam Link + Game Bundle has ever been, and purchasable in GabenBucks rather than real money. (Thanks to AAAAHHHH for proof)
Edit2: Annnnd It's Done.
