It's worth exactly how much the game is worth on Steam, unless it's been in a bundle. Then it's worth only 15%.

So a $60 game is worth 0,6 CL? Or 0,06 ?

Ummm... 15% of $60 is $9, so that's what you'd get if it's been bundled.

A $60 game (that has not been bundled) will give you $60 to your contributor value. Each level will require more contributor value than the previous one. You can use this site to figure out how much you need for your next level: http://www.sgtools.info/real-cv

I'm not sure if I'm reading the data correctly. In my case it shows the following:

  • Real CV: 139.60 $
  • 26.40% to Level 5

Does it mean I have to spend 73.6% of $139.60 to get to Level 5 (i.e. spend $102.7)?

You've spent 39,60 out of 150 (the difference between level 4 & 5, 39,6/150=0,264). It means that you need to spend another 110,4 to reach level 5.

Thanks, this makes sense now that I look at the page.

CL varies based on which level it is. So, for level one, anything gets you up to level one. For example, level 7 is $1000 CV. There is quite a difference from level to level (I think 2 is $25, so obviously it's a huge difference to get to 7 relative to 2) so there is no "Game is worth X CL" formula.

Ryzhehvost below linked the important data: http://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/XaCbA/list-of-all-cv-levels-and-their-corresponding-real-cv
So if someone registers here, and the first giveaway is something $60 unbundled, he/she immediately becomes level 3 after successfully delivering the gift. However a level 3 user giving away the same game will elevate to level 4 only, and above level 4 giving away a single game usually can not guarantee immediate leveling up any more (except for some expensive packs perhaps).

If the game is not in this list - you got as much contribution value as the full price of game in US steam.
If the game is in the list above - you got 15% of full price of game in US steam.
And contribution value needed to get certain level described here
