[Suggestion] Thanks button

Might be in the minority here, but I'm not really a fan of the swarms of "thanks" comments.
What about a "Thanks!" button one can click instead of a comment?

This way it's much easier to find the useful comments that have something to say.
Opinions?

I find taking the 3-4 seconds and exerting your fingers a little to type "thanks" and click the post button is more indicative of genuine gratitude than just being able to click once on a button.

That's not the point. It's harder to find useful comments because it is filled with people saying thanks.

Well, how about opening a box that would require you to enter "Thanks" manually before adding a thanks to the "thanks" counter?

It'd be cool to have a separate 'Thanks' type comment tab (to allow you to toggle between the two views on the comment page). So you'd still have to type out a Thank you message, but it can be separate from the comments themselves, which could include feedback about the game, questions for the Gifter, and so forth.

Also, it'd be nice to perhaps add a list or visual indicator of the people who left thanks, to show some acknowledgement that those people took the time to do that.

Attach your "meaningful discussions" to the first comment in the form of a reply. No more searching (cuz scrolling is too damn hard.)

Great suggestion. Would take away a good load from the site's server too, as it won't have to load so many comments.

might i suggest using the same scheme as modthesims2.com uses for uploads? add two types of comments, "thanks" and "feedback", that way people can post "gratitude comments" that don't clutter up the real feedback.

I'd agree with this.

On my other regular we have a thanks button at the bottom of the post, when we press it our forum name appears under the post.

Then if we wish to add a comment we can simply reply as normal, as filling up a thread with 'thanks' is quit untidy to look at unless there is meaningful thought put into it rather than just the 'thanks'

Either way works for me, as I feel I like to express my thanks and gratitude. So a thanks button with a feedback/reply with a comment in this manner would be a nice feature.

Definitely a good idea, enabling you to see the list of users who thanked while leaving the comments section clear for... you know, actual comments.

Explain? I feel it most certainly does have a point. People are required to say "thank you" for everything they enter, this clutters the absolute hell out of the comments section and makes finding anything of interest to read/reply to a chore.

Agreed. I do like to say thanks to those giving away games that interest me, but it feels like I'm just spamming the comments section with all those "thank you!" comments.

OR you can just type out "thanks", even though it will break your fingers, steal your money, burn down your house, rape your dog/cat, and punch your grandma in the boobs.

If you want a discussion, do it in the first comment. Or, you know, the forums.
